Antonio Conte talks about Rodrigo Bentancur’s adaptation to the Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur wanted to reinforce their midfield during the January transfer window. The north London club brought in Rodrigo Bentancour from Juventus FC to help with the final stretch of the season to help secure a top-four finish.

In Tottenham’s 2-0 over Brighton & Hove Albion, Bentancur had one of his better performances with Spurs since joining a little over a month ago. The 24-year-old provided the assist on the Harry Kane goal at the 57th-minute mark.

Bentancur’s pass split two Brighton defenders who were tracking back and found Kane, who only had to beat goalkeeper Robert Sánchez to make it 2-0.

The Uruguayan international played all 90 minutes, going 73 for 79 on his passes with a completion percentage of 92-percent. Following the match, manager Antonio Conte spoke to the media at news conference discussing the adaptation of Bentancur to the Premier League.

“Honestly, tonight it is very difficult to speak about a single player because the whole team played a good game. For sure, to see Rodrigo Bentancur and Deki Kulusevski go into the team so quickly in this idea of football is great for us,” Conte said, per Football.London

“I said to you after these two signings now we are more complete, especially in midfield because we lost Skipp for two/three months in this moment. We needed to have a player like Rodrigo.”

Tottenham will have another opportunity to secure a win ahead of a club in the table that is in their way for a top-four finish in West Ham United.
