When Antonio Conte takes over a job, the Italian tactician wants the club to invest in the squad. The 52-year-old expects sums to buy players and bring the team to his standards. It’s worked at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan, as he’s won the league title.

A couple of months into his tenure with Tottenham Hotspur after taking over for Nuno Espirito Santo in November, Conte states Spurs need to match his ambition. After the first-leg loss to Chelsea, the north London club needs to comprehend his “vision” to take them back towards the elite.

“I’m happy to work with this group because they are giving me great availability. But at the same time, you know the club has to know my vision, has to know my opinion about the situation and especially what is our ambition,” Conte said at his news conference.

Furthermore, Conte explains why he signs a short contract as his deal with Tottenham runs through 2023.

“I’m not a coach that wants many years of a contract. Also, it’s not fair because I know very well I’m a top coach with an important salary for the club,” Conte said.

“I’m open to improve the Tottenham situation, and I decided to sign a contract with this club, and I’m available to give my opinion, to give my vision, and it won’t be a problem for me, a short contract – only one year to go. It’s OK because Tottenham has to be sure 120 percent to continue to work with me.”

The January transfer window is open, but it will be challenging to revamp the squad, but he can begin to lay the groundwork for the summer. Conte can start molding the team and lifting it to his standards in a few months.

The vision is WhiteWebbs Golf Course, Hotels next to the ground the redevelopment of Tottenham High Road , and then somewhere in it all there is the football..yep we could have had Grealish for 25 mil ..Sess for 5 mil if we loaned him back to Fulham.
The amount of dross that has been bought under the transfer committee…. There havin a laugh….trying to change the metric from winning to being entertained..and achieving neither..

(Imagine the guy who introduces the cinema releases) “First we had Poch’s vision! Then came Jose’s! Now Conte’s vision! Unfortunately, they have to battle for supremacy against Mr Magoo’s vision.”

It doesn’t matter what the vision of Conte is, it is Levy’s vision that determines the club’s fate. I think Levy genuinely believes he can penny pinch his way to success, after all, it nearly worked under Poch. We finished runner’s up in the world’s greatest league (Sky’s words not mine) and lost in the final of football’s showcase club competition (Jake down the pub words not mine). Why therefore would he want to alter his ways? If he nearly did it once, he can nearly do it again.

Levy must think all is needed is a world class manager. Jose was better than Poch, ergo he should do better. It is simples! Given the same set of players I actually think Jose would have won some pots and pans. He wouldn’t have played Son as a full back in a semi final that is for sure! Same with Conte. The trouble is the set of players we currently have would have been no where near top 4 with Poch. Imagine Poch with Emerson and not Walker! Skipp not Eriksen. Hojbjerg not Dembele. Frightening isn’t it?

I also feel that Levy’s vision centres around squad investment being far too risky/costly so he has appeased the fans with a big name manager,……twice. Having Levy as our CEO is Monty Pythonesque. Levy is the guy who built the castle on the swamp, saw it sink, built it again, but saw it sink again. The man is demented, he so wants to prove the Sheiks, Oligarchs, US Entrepreneurs wrong with his ‘New Order’. Few managers have achieved what Levy is asking. Brian Clough and Peter Taylor did it for Derby and Forest, but they even had to fight idealistic chairmen to get the players they wanted.

Only Ralf, Pep and Tuchel are at club’s that can deliver players these guys want as first choice. City paid £100m on a player they didn’t actually need, that’s how farcical it is. Even more farcical? That should be our money but Magoo was so shortsighted he had to balls up the deal! I feel for Klopp somewhat because he won the Ch Lg/EPL and Fenway have invested little (in comparison) to help him push for more. The squad is light, yet they could easily have won more. At least the Liverpool fans have had success though. We can only lament on what could have been. Arsenal are improving under Arteta, not through his genius coaching ability by the way, but probably something to do with the massive investment over the last 3 years.

Conte had to have understood what he was getting in to, vision or no vision. We are Tottenham, (we do things differently you know), from the Lane.

  1. Same old story, Manager wants player ‘A’, board insist player is not available, not mentioning, not available at a lower price, buy player ‘B’ who is no Hoddle or McKay. Has been this way ever since a disconsolate Burkinshaw quit over being forced to work with Jesper Olsen. As he left, the clubs heart went with him and it has never been the same since. 38 years on. Conte will give his best as did Poncho, who mentioned, ‘Give me the backing and me and my coaching staff will be here for twenty years.’ A CEO’s job is to turn a profit and they will blow up the world rather than fail, it is in their DNA and they are to stubborn and pathetic to change. Scholar, Sugar, Levy, all basically clones with 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cups in 38 Years. This is Arsenals. 5 Champions, 9 (NINE) FA Cups, League Cups 2, CWC 1. Chelsea eclipse Arsenal, do not mention Man U and now City rolling on. Even Leicester City have won the League, an FA Cup and 2 League Cups. All since ’84. But Leicester have a supportive board. Will it change soon? My sunshine when skies are grey? The board have been the ominous cloud over WHL for far, far too long and it ain’t just Levy.

It seems Conte is quietly laying the ground for why Levy’s inactivity will backfire on him. Most sensible people recognise the fact that we need to refresh the squad,Conte is patiently explaining this to everybody in his pressers, but the almighty apparently doesn’t have his hearing aids in.

Or maybe he means “Levy must comprehend my vision”.
