Antonio Conte praises the playmaking abilities of Harry Kane but wants him to focus on being a striker

Despite Tottenham Hotspur coming away with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa that saw Son Heung-min secure a hat-trick, manager Antonio Conte wants to see more from Harry Kane and wants more from the 28-year-old regarding his goal-scoring responsibilities.

Kane gets praise for being a creator, but the Italian tactician wants Kane to be an out-and-out number nine striker and hopes to bring in a new number 10.

“Harry, he was born a striker,” the Italian said, per Daily Mail. “But he has the talent and quality to play like a number 10 with another striker in front of him. But I like to have him as a striker and then eventually another number 10. Two different players with different characteristics.”

The England international has been proficient at both positions for Spurs over the last couple of seasons, scoring goals at his regular pace while also being his squad’s most creative player when the striker drops deep.

Kane provided two assists in the north London club’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa on the goals scored by Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski. However, Conte wants to see him concentrate on his more traditional role and a new creative player arriving despite affecting a match in this manner.
