Antonio Conte is still in “evaluation” of Tottenham squad as the January window nears

By Eddie Razo -

The January transfer window is a couple of weeks away. For Tottenham Hotspur supports, it’s the opportunity for the north London-based club to improve their squad under new manager Antonio Conte.

Conte is a manager that demands the clubs he works for commit financially; he’s done it at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan, which is why some believe Tottenham could do some splurging.

However, when asked about the transfer window, the Italian tactician stated that he remains in the evaluation mode rather than thinking about what players he wants to bring in during January.

“Honestly, when I decided to become Tottenham manager, I didn’t speak about this aspect,” Conte said at a press conference, where Mirror relaid his words. “When you take a job, you have to make your evaluations, and you have to feel your sensations.”

“And honestly, I felt Tottenham was the right club to work and to bring my ideas and philosophy of football. For this reason, I accepted the job. If I’m here, it’s because I want to build something important with the club.”

Tottenham has been linked to various players; meanwhile, players on the Spurs squad have also seen their name in possible deals leading to a departure. Nonetheless, going back to Conte’s comments, it seems he wants to temper down expectations.

Perhaps that Italian tactician would like a more extended look at some players and plan everything over the summer to have more time to execute deals.

Conte has to say this…..if he spoke the truth we’d be lucky to get £1.50 for this shower of sh*t.

The squad will get churned in Jan, can see at least 4 arrivals and 6 departures

And most of that long list that most Spurs have will still be here.

I cannot believe that such a seasoned manager was not aware of the situation at the club, i.e. it is a walking toilet, before he signed.
He would have followed Jose’s demise here and been aware that a perfectly moderate manager such as Nuno had been made to look a right mug.
From PL runners up and CL finalists to the embarrassing view of a much titled manager doing a jig as his team grab a dodgy draw at Palarse to clinch 6th place and entry into the marvellous EL (EL I can only dream of the EL).

Maybe the situation has surprised him close up but Paratici would have told him how bad it is and to quote our old friend Bill S
“Something is rotten in the State of………….”

Obviously not overly enamoured by what he has experienced of the squad so far with a number of them either injured and low in confidence or both. I imagine he has seen enough of certain individuals like Dele, Doherty and Bergwijn to maybe realise they are not in his plans and would be best moved on in January, which could give the money to bring a couple in, we’ll see.

Dont worry folks. He will still be evaluating the squad in 18 months time.
