Antonio Conte hits back at Julian Nagelsmann for ‘disrespectful’ comments about Harry Kane

By Mehdi Gokal -

Antonio Conte has slammed Bayern Munich for being ‘disrespectful’ towards Tottenham by publicly proclaiming their interest in Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich lost their goal scoring machine to Barcelona this summer and despite signing Sadio Mane, they are still looking to fill the void by signing Harry Kane, another goal scoring beast.

The links started off after Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn publicly admitted his admiration for the Spurs striker, stating that it would be a ‘dream’ to sign him

And now the Bundesliga champions’ manager Julian Nagelsmann has publicly spoken about Kane and refused to rule out a move for him. He said (via Sky Sports):

‘He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future.’

‘He’s very expensive that’s the problem – but a brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he’s very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet,’

Antonio Conte has now come out and publicly slammed him for his disrespectful comments. He said (via Sky Sports):

“Honestly I didn’t hear this. For sure I’m a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams.

“I don’t know why [this happened]. The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. Harry is a part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yeah only rumours.

“At the same time, I don’t like to speak about players from another club. If I want to do something I go to speak to the club, not through the media.

“I think maybe it’s a bit disrespectful for the other club. This is my way. This is my way to face the situation with other players.”

Harry Kane seems to be happy at the club under Conte and in great form. But with just 2 years left in his contract and having not extended it yet, his future at the club remains uncertain. Spurs’ fans will hope the club sorts out his contract sooner than later to shut down all reports.

In context when he was at Chelsea, Conte was asked the question “If you were allowed to choose any striker in the world then who would it be?” He answered Kane.
He wasn’t banging on about actually buying him like Julian was. He didn’t talk about how dear he was or if Chelsea intended moving for him then or in the future. There was none of that. This turns players heads, upsets their game, and their respective clubs.

Love Conte and what he’s doing at the moment but i think he has a bit of a memory loss as he did the same thing whilst at chelsea! Said how he wished he had Kane etc etc and was thus called disrespectful himself from Poch!
