Ange Postecoglou was desperate to offload 26-year-old Spurs man this summer

Transfer insider Dean Jones has provided some behind the scenes update on Tanguy Ndombele and his attempt to impress Ange Postecoglou.

Ndombele was signed by Tottenham from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record fee of £63m, but has failed to live up to expectations since his arrival. He failed to impressed any of the managers who have managed the club in recent years.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Napoli helping them to win the league but the Italian club did not sign him permanently despite an option to buy, with his asking price deemed too steep by Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli,.

Ndombele had another chance to prove revive his Tottenham career by proving himself to new manager Ange in the summer.

But Dean Jones reveals that failed to impress the Australian who then decided to move him on.

He told GiveMeSports:

“The Ndombele situation has been very strange. He should be one of the Premier League’s top midfielders, but he’s never managed to grasp the opportunities. In the end, I am told that Tottenham were desperate to get him out the door.

He was given another fresh opportunity this summer by Ange Postecoglou to prove his worth and show he could have a future at the club but he didn’t impress and they just didn’t have room for passengers, so he had to be moved on.”

The Frenchman finally completed a loan switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray yesterday who have the option to buy him on a permanent deal next summer.

Ndombele’s move to Galatasaray comes after a challenging period at Tottenham, where he struggled to find consistency and failed to live up to the high expectations that accompanied his arrival.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who was once regarded as one of the brightest prospects in French football, will now try to rediscover his form and regain his confidence in Turkey.
