‘In my opinion…’: Ange responds to speculation surrounding 28-yr-old’s Tottenham future

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window on a loan deal.

The 28-year-old German international has been quite impressive for his new club and he has established himself as an important squad player. Even though he has not started games regularly, he has been very useful for Tottenham.

There have been speculations surrounding his long-term future at the club. Tottenham have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see if they decide to exercise that clause.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has now reacted to speculations surrounding the future of the German international striker. The Australian manager has revealed that Werner has been a great signing for Tottenham and discussions will be had in due course of time regarding his long-term future.

He said: “The decisions will be made at the appropriate time. In my opinion, he’s been a great signing. He’s been really important part of our structure”.

Tottenham must sign Timo Werner permanently

Ideally, Tottenham should look to secure his signature permanently. The 28-year-old is an experienced forward, who is versatile enough to operate anywhere in the front three. He will add goals, creativity and pace in the final third.

Tottenham are pushing for Champions League qualification and they will need a deeper squad to deal with the fixture congestion next season. Players like Werner could prove to be extremely useful.

In addition to that, the reported asking price for the striker is quite reasonable and Tottenham can sign him permanently for a fee of around £15 million.

The 28-year-old could prove to be a major bargain at that price, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done.
