Tottenham Hotspur’s summer spending spree shows no signs of slowing down as they are reportedly closing in on a move for Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.
The North London club has already secured the signatures of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Dejan Kulusevski, and Pedro Porro.
Micky van de Ven has emerged as a top target for Spurs and could potentially become Ange Postecoglou’s fifth signing of the summer.
Reports suggest that negotiations between Tottenham and Wolfsburg are already underway, with the player expressing a strong desire to join the Premier League side.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter last week to confirm the player’s intentions, stating that van de Ven’s camp had already informed Wolfsburg about the player’s desire to move to Spurs.
Romano also mentioned ongoing negotiations with Edmond Tapsoba, indicating that Tottenham’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements is not limited to a single target.
He tweeted:
“Micky van de Ven’s camp told Wolfsburg of player’s strong desire to join Spurs. Negotiations are underway between the Tottenham and Wolfsburg, he’s among top target as revealed last week.
Contacts with Edmond Tapsoba are still ongoing as of now, deal on.”
And The Mirror’s Darren Lewis has further supported these claims in the latest report, reiterating Romano’s claims, suggesting that Postecoglou is ‘confident’ in securing the services of Micky van de Ven.
Despite interest from other clubs, it is believed that the player himself is ‘keen on the move’ to Tottenham.
If the deal materialises, Micky van de Ven would join a revamped Spurs squad that has been bolstered by several high-profile signings this summer.
