Ange Postecoglou appears to squash any reports linking 22-year-old with a move away

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has lauded Radu Dragusin for his outstanding performances in the ongoing European Championship.

The young Romanian defender, who joined Spurs in January, has emerged as a standout player for his national team.

Dragusin was a major signing for Tottenham. The Lilywhites managed to secure the highly promising centre-back from Genoa for €25 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons, beating Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for his signature.

Despite making only four Premier League starts in his nine appearances under Postecoglou last season, Dragusin’s quality is evident.

Currently showcasing his talent in the European Championship, Dragusin excelled in Romania’s 3-0 victory over Ukraine in their opening group match.

Surprisingly, despite the recent move to Spurs, he is being linked with a summer move away.

His agent has recently spoken about the ongoing speculations, hinting at potential interest from Napoli.

But Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou seems to have squashed any reports linking him with an exit by claiming that he is happy what Dragusin is a Tottenham player.

Speaking on ITV broadcast before Romania’s match against Belgium on matchday 2, Postecoglou expressed his admiration for the young defender.

The Australian head coach highlighted Dragusin’s willingness to learn and his strong foundation in Italian defensive techniques, honed during his time at Juventus.

He also noted Dragusin’s bravery in passing and overall development, despite being only 22 years old.

Postecoglou said:

“He is a super kid and he really wants to learn. He actually went to Juventus at a very young age, so he has been schooled in Italian defending. He is a defender who loves defending.

“He is a brave passer as well, he is sort of adding that to his game. He is only 22, but he is a great kid and I am super happy that we have got him at Spurs.”

Dragusin’s performances at the Euros have reinforced the belief that Tottenham made a wise investment.

His defensive prowess and potential for growth make him a key player for Spurs as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Postecoglou’s endorsement further solidifies Dragusin’s place as a vital part of Spurs’ defensive lineup for the future.
