Ange Postecoglou gets annoyed at journalist when asked about the Vicario incident

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou appeared frustrated with a journalist after being questioned about a controversial moment involving goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario during their 3-1 win over Brentford.

Vicario seemingly handled the ball outside the box, but the referee did not call a foul, and VAR did not intervene either.

Brentford were visibly unhappy with the decision, leading to both manager Thomas Frank and defender Kristoffer Ajer receiving yellow cards for protesting.

In his post-match press conference, as quoted by Football London, Postecoglou was initially curt when asked about the incident, responding: “I think I saw exactly what you saw.”

When the reporter admitted they weren’t 100% sure about the decision, Postecoglou replied: “Well, what makes you think I am surer? I was closer to the pitch? You were higher up though. Okay, so maybe I saw exactly what you saw.”

When pressed on whether Tottenham “got away with it”, Postecoglou said: “Get away with it? So, have you seen it and said it’s outside, because I haven’t seen it. I’ve got no idea.”

He added: “If it wasn’t an obvious goalscoring opportunity, it means even if he was penalised, it would have been a free-kick. And that’s a big turning point in the game? A free-kick outside the box? (laughs) Okay, look, I guess we were lucky to get the result.”

TBH Says:

Tottenham did arguably get lucky but they will not care. They secured a much needed win after two consecutive league defeats.

Fans will be relieved and hopeful the result sparks a positive run moving forward.
