Ange Postecoglou’s first North London derby was a thrilling affair with the game ending in 2-2 draw.
Tottenham made a slow start to the game with Arsenal being the dominating team for the first half an hour.
And in the 26th minute it was the home side who took a deserving lead. Saka’s shot from outside the box going far post was guided into his own net by Cristian Romero.
The goal seemed to wake the away team who went on to become much more threatening there onwards.
And it did not take them long to get back in the game. In the 42nd minute, Heung-min Son had the ball in the back of the net from a James Maddison assist.
10 minutes into the second half, Romero conceded a penalty after Ben White’s shot was handled by the Argentine which was fired in by Saka.
But a minute later, Spurs were back in the game with Maddison capitalising on a Jorginho mistake before laying a pass for his captain who scored his second of the game to make it 2-2.
Spurs saw several more chances saved or blocked and the two rivals eventually ended up sharing the points as the game finished 2-2.
This was the first time a Tottenham manager has come out with a point from a North London derby at the Emirates managed by Mikel Arteta.
The last three games all ended in defeats: Arsenal 2-1 (Jose Mourinho), Arsenal 3-1 (Nuno Espirito Santo), Arsenal 3-1 (Antonio Conte)
Big Ange managed to end Tottenham’s losing streak at the Emirates.
