Ange eyes January loan for defensive help, with plans to promote two young starlets next season

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham will not sign a new defender in the January transfer window and will only consider loaning one instead.

That is according to the latest report from GiveMeSport, who claim that this is because Ange plans to integrate Luka Vuskovic and Ashley Phillips in first-team next season.

Luka Vuskovic has emerged as one of the top talents in Europe recently and his recent performances have left Spurs supporters excited.

He is set to join Spurs in 2025 after the club secured a deal with Hajduk Split last September, valued at around £12 million.

Currently on loan at Belgian club Westerlo for the 2024-25 season, the 17-year-old centre-back is already turning heads.

Meanwhile, after an impressive loan spell at Plymouth last season, Ashley Phillips was loaned out to Stoke City this summer for further development.

He is also highly rated England and is seen as a significant investment for the future.

The report claims that the Tottenham manager sees the two of them capable of securing considerable game time next season, which is why he does not want to spend big on another defensive recruitment.

TBH Says:

The summer transfer window saw the club successfully get rid of the deadwood.

In terms of incomings, they managed to strengthen the attack with the big money signing of Solanke and the signing of young winger Wilson Odobert.

They also bolstered the midfield with the additions of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

However, Spurs supporters have not been entirely satisfied with the club’s business, feeling that the club may have fallen short of a few signings to make it a successful window.
