‘…an interesting challenge’ Journalist hints at concerns over one Spurs signing

Tottenham Hotspur has improved its backline following the loan deal for FC Barcelona central defender Clément Lenglet. The France international will attempt to kick-start his career in north London after falling by the wayside with the Spanish club.

Despite coming to Spurs looking to find the past form that he had at Sevilla, ESPN’s Julien Laurens states although Lenglet faces the challenges of adapting to a new club and league, the defender could be a vital piece of the group.

“It’s an interesting challenge for [Lenglet]. Let’s see how he adapts to Conte, to the Premier League, and to the back three, but he could become very important for Tottenham,” Laurens said.

Lenglet will likely fill the role on the left side of manager Antonio Conte and play alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier. However, some reports that Spurs could be in the market for another defender to play the role and challenge the France international.

But for now, Ben Davies is the other option for Conte, but it will be interesting to see if Lenglet can rediscover his past form under the Italian tactician. However, if the French defender is the guy Spurs are banking on to hold down the position, then Laurens could be right.
