‘…Always playing second fiddle’ – O’Hara claims Tottenham star won’t be happy when he returns after World Cup

By Mehdi Gokal -

TalkSPORT’s Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Richarlison will be unhappy once he returns from the World Cup.

Richarlison is still settling in at Spurs after joining from Everton in the summer. But the 25-year-old is undeniably Brazil’s main star in the World Cup at the moment.

The former Everton man has mostly played out wide for Tottenham, but he is flourishing as a striker for Brazil. He has scored three goals in the tournament so far, two of them being goal of the tournament contenders.

And O’Hara believes that returning to Spurs to sit on the bench after his form for Brazil will not go down well with the striker. He also stated that Spurs’ decision to play him on the right rather than the striker has already hampered his ability to score goals.

He told TalkSPORT:

“The problem we’ve got with Richarlison is he’s always playing second fiddle as a centre-forward to Harry Kane. So we put him on the side and play him on the right.”

The former Spurs man was speaking to a fan on the show who believed that the Brazilian number 9 should be playing as a striker for the club as well. To which O’Hara agreed and replied:

“You make a good point.”

“When he comes back to Spurs and he’s sat on the bench as we’re playing Son, Kane and Kulusevski up-front with Richarlison back on the bench after the World Cup he’s just had, there’s no way he’s going to be happy.”

He is already being linked with the likes of Real Madrid after his world cup performances and will not be short of suitors if he becomes unhappy at the club.

From Spurs point of view, it must be an absolute treat to have so many exciting options in the attack at your disposal.
