Tottenham Hotspur can now concentrate all of their efforts on convincing Harry Kane to sign a new contract now that the summer transfer window has closed.

That’s according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who spoke to This is Futbol about the latest news from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the transfer window closed.

Bayern Munich are hoping Kane will stall signing a new contract with the north London club so that the German giants can make a bid for the 29-year-old in 2023, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk.

His current contract at Spurs runs until 2024, meaning that he could be available at a cut-price next summer. However, now that the summer transfer window has closed, O’Rourke believes Spurs can focus their transfer efforts on convincing Kane to sign a new contract, increasing both his value and the likelihood of him staying at the club. He said:

“Yeah, now the window is closed they can put all the focus on the football and also maybe look at tying down Harry Kane to a new contract.

“Antonio Conte has already spoken about hoping that something can be done to sort out his future.

“Especially when you’ve got the rumours of Bayern Munich waiting in the wings to maybe try and sign him next summer.”

It goes without saying how vital it is for Spurs to secure Kane’s long-term future, and perhaps a record-breaking contract may be required to keep the star striker tied down to a new deal. One thing is for sure, the longer the saga continues, the more chances of him joining Bayern next season.

I’m fine with the postponement as I was going to miss the game to play golf anyway.

Complete overkill

Am I alone in thinking this wholesale cancelling of a raft of sporting events is a bit of an overkill?Yes I know she was much loved by a lot of people, but cancelling the football games isn’t going to bring her back. The queen was 96 so it’s not as if her death was a complete shock.

This season is alread boasting a cramped fixture schedule. As I understand it every midweek is filled with fixtures leading up to the WC and with the possibility of cancelled games due to the weather after the new year it will be difficult to reschedule these games.

People are always bleating about the number of games that players have to play so surely it is more sensible to continue with the schedule, even though that will still be punishing.

On the one hand everyone bar Lucas is healthy now.

On the other City is in fine form, have an extra day rest and our lads can use the rest for CL.

A letoff, for sure. As for January, I can hear the murmur building: “we’ve been so preoccupied with the WC yada yada…”

The trophy Harry wants most I’d guess is the Premier League title and he isn’t winning that off his own performances.

So Harry has to do it all on his own, does he? The rest of the team didn’t turn up either, don’t forget.

As for Levy, he can do one as he has constantly got one over the fans for the last 23 years and a player of Kane’s ability deserves to be playing for a club that consistently competes at the top level and wins trophies. Most Spurs fans have said so on this very forum and on others.

I don’t think Harry will sign another contract with Levy. But I also think he wants to stay in the prem to break Shearer’s record. I don’t see him playing for Arse or Chelsea.

So it’s most likely Liverpool United City in that order.

Why on earth would Kane sign a new contract? If the reports were true, he’s already been shafted by Levy once before with the ephemeral “handshake agreement” although I did read that it was not his brother who negotiated the long term contract he signed but his previous agent. If he has any sense, he will run down his contract. Vinicius Junior has obtained Spanish citizenship which means that Real Madrid have room for another overseas player and Benzema is five years older than Kane, so it’s not just Bayern that Levy has to worry about. I suspect that this season will make up his mind.

Man City game called off as a result of Queens passing, That’s a big let off for us I reckon. Gives us a weeks break to the next CL match.Hopefully it will be rearranged after the January window and we have brought in the quality we are missing by then. I did say “hopefully “.

I’m a Spurs fan who is not perverse enough to lose our best player just to get one over on Levy. He can get the trophies he wants if he turns up on the regular occasions we get to a final

As I have said before,Kane should not sign a new contract at least until he into the last year of his contract.Levy has had him over before and Harry is holding all the cards.Make the little turd sweat……and then leave.
