Toby to Roma would essentially be a dull transfer rumour, if it were not for Gianluca Petrachi.
The Italian language is littered with a poetical subtext which is brilliant if you’re watching Gomorrah on Sky Atlantic, but migraine inducing if you’re trying to get a straight answer out of the sporting director of Serie A club.
“I scolded Zaniolo with all the affection of this world to return, if he had left, on the rails of professionalism, to make him come back with his head on his shoulders, it was immediately said that I put him up for sale. And this is absolutely not true”.
Goal.com Italy
Which implies no sale.
Yet in a club presser to welcome full back Leonardo Spinazzola, Chiesaditotti nabbed this quote whilst in the Triagora media room:
“I understand you guys have to sell papers, but I’ve never put Zaniolo up for sale let alone said he’s on the market.
When I was playing in my day, it was thought that Juventus could never sell Zidane and then they sold him. Or that a player could never leave a certain place, and then he did. Anything can happen on the transfer market.
But if you ask me today if Zaniolo is on the market, he’s not on the market. Then, in life and especially in this sport, you’ve got to know how to value everything.”
Chiesaditotti
Which implies Zaniolo is for sale, at the right price.
However, this doesn’t fit so neatly with the whole player plus cash scenario, does it?
With Manolas and Marcano leaving, it’s clear that Roma needs one, possibly two, central defenders.
Does Toby fancy a Roman Holiday?

A magnificent speech Eddie, and may I add to that that while in some business its good to bring your costs down, football ain’t like that. Even if he does being people in, they still ain’t done a preseason etc. Afuckingain. Given how long he takes to do a deal I’d be surprised if we get any done anyway. Anyone for 5 a side..
Mid week comes around………nooooooothing. Its all the same shit. Couple weeks till season starts. Too late now to get any integration anyway. NFL! NFL!
Looking at the players we want to get rid of, and those that want to leave (rough guesses on price) and the speed the work is being done, I see us having £180m in the bank by the end of the European window and no-one else brought in:
Trip – £20m
Rose – £30m
CE – £80m
Toby – £25m
Onomah – £10m
Nkludo – £5m
Janssen – £10m
Sure there is more.
Denny rose. One of the best left siders in the game. England international with 12 years spurs service on £60k a week. Its not right really is it. Wouldn’t blame him for leaving. Only one good contrac£ left in him. If its medals he’s after he should stay put.
Maybe Athletico are not owned by tight fisted cunts.
Maybe Levy’s project management skills are showing again.
I dunno, I think that is enough for us to pay to get rid of him.
1882,very worrying the players being linked with an exit, particularly Danny.Say what you like about the way he mouthed off to that “journalist” but he always gives 100%.
Even if Sessignon and Arrons {Foyth?}arrive would they be up to PL standard.Sessignon didn’t suggest so last season. They will lower the average age,but English replacing English.
Also if Tripps definitely goes to Athletico they might want to take Eriksen in the same negotiations, especially as we seem to have had no real interest in him.Obviously we’re having to sell to buy.
Toby would be the biggest loss however. It’s essential he stays for another year or two along with Jan.If Levy thinks Dier can slot in there we’re doomed I tell you,all doomed.
If those two prefer the Arse to us then fuck ’em.
This window has the makings of a complete fuck up.Thanks you bald twat.
You forgot, Winks replaces CE
He has wanted to leave for 2 years.

I am on the whole positive but I can see what some of the guys are saying on here.
Problem is these (potential) signings look like this:
Sessegnon replaces Rose
Max Aarons?/Foyth replaces Trippier
NDombele replaces Dembele
Lo Celso replaces Erikson
This would mean the average age of the squad is dramatically down but will the new guys perform at the same level (or better) of the players that have left?
Also none of the above addresses squad depth and we still have 2 world class centre backs in the last year of their contract waiting to be replaced or offered decent contracts.
Not sure why everyone is getting excited according to the guy who writes tottenhamhotspur blogspot.com the Lo Celso deal was done weeks ago, he has posted the exact fee paid. He also claims that the Sessegnon brothers deal is also done. This guy has been very accurate in the past so I am inclined to believe him over the made up stuff that sells papers. He also claims that the Ceballos deal has stalled due to Madrid refusing to agree to add the sale portion onto the deal. Arsenal will face the same problem so unless they are crazy he will not go there either. Nobody is going to improve a loan player for free.
Last season our players were knackered even before they began due to excessive World Cup games and barely any rest time. This year everyone is fit, had plenty of rest and the underachievers ( we know who you are) had better pick up their game or else it’s goodbye. If you have watched Tanguy you know we have bought a monster talent. Way better than Dembele ever was, and with strength to boot.
With Lo Celso coming in our midfield will now be awesome. Foyth played well at fullback in the Copa America tournament so don’t think we need to worry losing Tripps.
Personally think we are a genuine threat to the top three now.
Billy the yid – I know Levy is a shithouse but I dony think we can jump to the conclusion that we arent prepared to bring in “quality footballers” Ndombele is clearly a quality footballer and we smashed our transfer record to buy him? Losing Trippier is no loss given how poor he was last season – take out his mistakes and we coukd have had 10-12 more points! Clearly we are only selling him as have others lined up. If we sell a load of players and then sign no one then I will be foaming at the mouth with anger but Im willing to give Poch ( not Levy) the benefit of the doubt until the window closes
Happy clapper brigade” Willie? I’m in the brigade that doesn’t label people. And the brigade that knew levy/Joe or any other owners are not stronger than my club. Tottenham are from Tottenham. Maybe that’s why I may have more faith than some. Plenty years of hurt ive never stopped believing. (Even when I was a yout and we got relegated. Straight back up. ☺
Yes, Tappa, you’ve made it clear you’re in the happy-clapper brigade. You’re certainly entitled to your opinions, whatever they may be, but I’m afraid you’re wildly out of touch with reality my friend. Maybe you’re just optimist by disposition, or maybe you’re into the stash of ecstasy and LSD. In any case, I think you’re going to be in for a rude surprise when this midget clown leaves us with another paper-thin squad half full of mid-table level players, and expects Poch to pull yet another rabbit out of his hat.
Mark it, barring a massive turnaround in the next two weeks, Poch walks after this season or possibly by Christmas once Ole at Wheel crashes the car.
The Tottenham Hotspur foundation is littered with gooners and I give it to all of them. Not only as in your teams shit but also how could you work for the enemy. They hate that. You’ve got a cockerel on your chest son. I could never wear a big gun on my chest.
I am starting to wonder (with the fact no team is really spending) if the continent teams have got wise to the fact the PL MUST buy and their window closes earlier, so playing silly buggers with price, the end of the day, all other leagues can afford to play chicken, because if a player doesn’t go to or from the PL, they have 3weeks longer to go for plan B.
Because we’ve seen it all before so many times. The players leaving because they want fair money and trophies. The obscene penny pinching by the bald little twat. The phantom transfers that never happen or fizzle out. The false hope endlessly peddled by enic . But most of all because we never win trophies do we?
This is not sounding the strategy of success is it? Whilst Levy and enic are in charge things won’t suddenly get better. A leopard never changes it’s spots. Mark my words. I hope I’m wrong.
JoburgSpur July 16, 2019 at 3:27 pm
Where you seeing Rose out?
I really can’t see why fans are getting their knickers in a twist. Anyone who thinks we wont be strong next season is WRONG. I’m so calm about it. Never been so calm yet excited. I can see I shiny future at Tottenham. We’ve over taken them all. They all want to be us. Can’t understand why some fans ain’t excited. Too busy focusing on the bloody past that’s why. Move on. Learn to forgive. Its liberating. COYS.
I’m a massive poch fan, but history repeats. I think Satan is quite happy to say try foyth at full back. He can’t do what he’s supposed to do. Dier is the same if Toby goes. The only one with any pace is as mad as a box of frogs. Ndombele is merely a replacement for someone who left in January. Looks the real deal, but a squad that lost 20 games last year, if we lose trips, the rose not going to Asia seems odd to me, and as gutting as it is Toby leaving, means we need some serious recruiting ASAP. Given how long he takes to do a deal I can’t see him getting the necessary work done. How many other clubs have 80% of a deal done? 2 weeks ago I had hope. Now realisation hits home. And for all the people who are saying brilliant Daniel, Ndombele is a great signing, it’s only what he should be doing.
We’re all hoping that he’s gonna pull one or two rabbits out of Debbie’s arse in the next week or so. But it’s all an illusion.
Angel correa is a right or left midfielder usually on the wings… Trips is doing his medical now.. Hes off to a good team.. Good luck to the boy.. He doesnt look too happy about it in the couple of photos i have seen though
Gentlemen. It doesn’t matter if the window shuts in 2098, or 20 seconds. That fraud of a chairman has not one intention of bringing in quality footballers, and to compound the misery it looks like he’s hell bent on reducing the squad again. Trippier off. Foyth replaces. Right let’s cut the crap here. Foyth at this moment in time is not prem league standard. Dier will drop in if Toby goes which I suspect he will. But after the deadline here so he can’t be replaced, and then we’ll get the usual Bollox about its hard to do a deal in January. What the follicly challenged one hasn’t realised is plenty can see through his bullshit now. Eriksen will go abroad also. After the deadline here. Same script. Rose being left behind while they go to Asia. There’s 5 a side teams with bigger squads. Please please let’s set up a just giving page and remove this fucking vermin from our club
eddie July 16, 2019 at 4:33 pm
When the window was created all leagues should have been told to obey by the same windows. January window would be mid season for us, and summer for other leagues, so just make them even window lengths.
This on sky, anyone know the striker they are on about ?
SPURS OFFERED CORREA
As part of negotiations over a deal for Kieran Trippier, Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa, Sky Sports News understands.
It is unclear whether Spurs want to sign Correa but he is an Argentina intentional and therefore well-known to Mauricio Pochettino.
Atletico want to sign Trippier as a replacement right-back for Juanfran, who recently announced his retirement.
Cabspur July 16, 2019 at 3:21 pm
don’t even joke about it!! who is covering CB if he is wasted at right back? Dier…so who is our defensive midfielder? You can filter crap to fill top draw players all they like, wont work.
That’s the point I made earlier today. We alone are closing the window on Aug.8th.and the european leagues will have a further 3 weeks to cherry pick from the PL.We would potentially be in a worse situation. It’s madness that all leagues have a different closing date.Is UEFA/FIFA that stupid?Oh wait a minute……….
I’m not sure why everyone is worried about the lack of transfers with our already paper-thin squad. We’re in great shape lads, we’ve got Oliver Skipp. Bwahahalolol! Levy the midget clown has become a parody of himself, long past are the days the media would play along with the ridiculous notion that he was some kind of master negotiator. He’s just an inept money grubbing little weasel. Here we are, again without sufficient squad depth, again without getting in transfers early enough to get a full preseason with Poch, again facing the prospect of no cover for Kane, and a first team squad that will be running on fumes by March having played too many matches.
Latest junk…CE to United or Athletico for £90m…are either of those teams better short term moves for CE? Surely he would be better staying?
Our best defender in the past god knows how many years, in exchange for a kid who nobody knows will even fit in the Premier League, plus giving them money !! Not sure about that !! By the way, the sheer size of figures quoted for even mediocre players this transfer window is beyond me, i cannot see this being sustainable. I can see the day in not a long time when 100 million will be the going rate for a bog standard PL player..
Yeah but arse will probably with the Europa whist we as usual win fuck all. We’re becoming infamous for 60,000 semi final defeats and now 1 final defeat to go with them. The team that flatters to deceive because it’s the original, penny pinching Levy losers. The team that runs out of steam because there is only 1 striker, 1 playmaker etc. and each and every one of them is underpaid. Short of another almost miracle like last season in the CL, I can tell you now exactly how this new season will go and save you all a load of money. Whilst the bald little cnut is in charge, don’t bother. It’s all show and no substance.
This window is shaping up to be the exact same as the all the previous ones under enic – penny pinching, money saving exercises in trying to stretch our squad just enough to make 4th if we’re lucky. Trouble is the other teams aren’t standing still are they? Sooner or later Mr Bungle will lead us back into the promised land of the Europa league, and we won’t be able to win that either because of the same problem. My God we had enough goes and managed one quarter final appearance whereas all the other English teams seem to go straight to the final.
Somebody save us from these parasites who are sucking the life blood out of a great team and forcing all our best players to leave sooner or later. As for Poch well I just don’t believe him anymore, he’s just Levy’s glove puppet.
Spurs_est1882 July 16, 2019 at 3:29 pm
Couldn’t see him in the training pics so everyone was wondering where he was. He talked about maybe moving on as Spurs look to move players on as they get older.
It just seems a very spurs thing to do. Buy English, cheap and young and hope they become better. If it does happen like I’m guessing then we must keep Toby or Jan to guide all these youngsters along!
1882 we have a new right back already ? his name is Foyth:)
Is this also why Rose was absent from the training pics? Rose out and then sessegnon in? Replace both england full-backs with two young full-backs who were both very good in the Championship? Gets the squad age down again but that is a bit of a gamble that the new guys can handle it.
Harry will be talking of “jam tomorrow” again 🙂
Cabspur July 16, 2019 at 3:11 pm
this is on a few sources now – so I think this may have some legs. Ranging from “having a Medical”, “having a medical this week” to Athletico just agreed a deal.
So if Trip is going (£25m seems to be the number being touted) that means we need a right back as well as all the other positions.
Hmmmm. Connecting the dots….. Trippier off, Norwich just sign a new right back from West Ham. Max Aarons on his way?
So much in the press today about Spurs…
Trip going
Rose Going
Toby going (though Roma cant afford his £25m…surely they cant have him then?)
CE to Athletico (interesting career choice!)
both Saliba and Ceballos to Arsenal over spurs…honestly?? any player in their right mind would choose Arsenal at the moment? I think if Real sell a player like Ceballos to Arsenal we should never deal with them again…special relationship my arse!!
Oh – on the Athletico spunking £170m on transfers. Its simple! Spainish teams are panicing due to power of the PL, only way for them to get money is Sponsorship and CL, so they need to win stuff. PL teams make more just rocking up each Saturday than Spanish teams make for winning everything. So they need to invest, where as our boss knows top 4 will make him his wedge each season. I predict we are not many years away from La Liga needing a PL level deal, or the super league as they are getting very annoyed. I would also suggest that they are sucking up top talent to improve chances of a TV deal.
Off topic and first time poster (or poser) – question to the masses – I live in US so only saw Champions Leagie Final from afar – Danny Rose was our best player and all I hear is get rid – discuss?
Nick Evershed July 17, 2019 at 1:33 am
Honestly, I would happily keep him, but his head/heart is not at Spurs, he is open about that in public so I imagine even more so behind closed doors. The team looked lethargic and I think he is a negative influence. (personal opinion not evidence based)
For people who stand at edge of the abyss, there is usually a question amounting to, “how the hell did I get to this point?”. For me there is a similar question, how is it that we have 3 world class players entering the last year of their contracts?
I cannot fathom why this is the case, mainly because I can’t see how Levy would allow it to happen. If he’d have grabbed the nettle a year ago and sold them he’d have trousered what, 150million+ for three of them? Now even with the ridiculous levels of inflation, we’d be lucky to get 120million and with them coming up on their last year, potentially nothing.
How has this happened; this is Daniel Levy we are talking about!
My only suppositions are, maybe he had his eye off the ball with the stadium or maybe Poch signed his new deal on the proviso that we kept them regardless. But I still can’t see Levy not frothing at the mouth at the prospect of losing so much money.
The only other outcome I can conceive of is that there are already deals in place, not “done deals”, but understandings. Maybe it was a cash-flow thing; the three of them were collectively being underpaid by about 15million a year, but that’s not really THAT much when all said and done.
I have a niggling suspicion that Ajax are somewhere in the mix, they will (it seems) need to replace a captain; tho’ de Ligt was supposed to have been finalised over 2 weeks ago.
I wonder, with apologies to Nietzsche, what the abyss sees when looking back into Daniel Levy?
If anyone should be got rid of it’s, Alli. Get that bum out of the club. He’s pure crap.
Sell him for whatever we can get. Get him off the wage bill and top up Toby and CE.
Trippier definitely going for too cheap.
Rose getting flung out too. The only left back that I can think of replacing him would be chillwell. He will cost upwards of 50.
That sess fella isn’t the first cousin of a left back! Our defence is going to be well dodge next season
Calling all welders (with a 6g ticket) the battersea project crying out for welders (pipe&plate) untold work there. £250350 a day if you’re good. I can’t believe there is no welding fabricating courses in Haringey. After visiting the battersea ting yesterday I strolled along the river from battersea to Vauxhall bridge. So much going up (more work) on the south bank but fuck all on the north bank. Westminster council fix up. Liven up the north bank. Oh and clean up your section of the river. Untold plastic bottles and other shit floating. Maybe you could get the community service people on it.
With Portugal striker Joao Felix brought in for £113m and midfielder Marcos Llorente arriving from city rivals Real for about £36m, Trippier’s arrival would bring Atletico’s total transfer spend so far to in excess of £170m – BBC SPORT.
THFC are the 10th richest club in the world.
A. Madrid are the 14th richest.
Trips is what 28 and has 2-3 years left on his contract and he’s going for 20million quid? Wtf is that about?? Seems 10mil short minimum.
Prediction:
Trippier gets found out by January at Atletico, and is loaned out to Burnley. After another 6 months they make the deal permanent at a cut price, and he never plays for England again.
Oh, and Spurs win a pot.
My preference would be to give Toby and Verts 3 year deals at a competitive pay rate, with an ‘understanding’ that they could go for a golden contract abroad with no interference from Baldy after 2 years. That would give Poch plenty of time to work on Sanchez and Foyth as a central pairing to be EPL ready.
Don’t mind if Cellabos or Saliba go to the goons, only one will be there this season and won’t improve Arsenal that much. Anyone know if they’ve had bids for Bam Bam or Lucozade yet? They have Sell To Buy syndrome as well.
Answer a) Newcastle lite
b) Mesut Ozil on 350K p/w
I love deja-vu. Its comfortingly familiar.
This just popped up on spewsnow tottenham.
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham/kieran-trippier-set-to-join-atletico-madrid-as-tottenham-agree-transfer-fee-a4191201.html
He’s very much a one-trick pony, emphasis on the pony.
Sounds like Max might be on his way but probably not to us.
Ceballos – going to the gunners (apparently) over us…if the lad would rather play in the Europa…good luck to him. Arsenal are in worse shape than us!
Just when you thought Daniel Levy couldn’t possibly pull the same trick again, Daniel Levy pulls the same trick again. He’s the Paul Daniels of football chairmen and Poch is starting to look like a very willing Debbie Mcgee.
Yet another year [Ndombele excepted] of introducing new players in the tunnel come the opening day of the season… Another penny-pinching escapade from the man at the top, or genuine problems in nailing the right ones down? Was in the newsagent this morning, and someone asked the question; What have you got if the goons sell Bam Bam and Lucozade? Answer; Newcastle
So with pre-season already well under way and only 23 days of the transfer window remaining, (after officially not having bought anyone forever and running the squad into the dirt), we have acquired just one player able to play for us in the coming season. Who only replaces a player we lost six months ago. That’s the sum total of our Summer so far. The situation with our and Europe’s best CB has not been resolved, the situation with our key want-away AM has not been resolved. The situation at RB has not been resolved. The situation with Jansen, Nocluedo and others has not been resolved. The back up for HK has not been resolved. Basically nothing has been resolved and one could argue zero progress has been made and we are exactly where we were as of January this year but potentially worse as two of our better players future’s in CE and TA looking very uncertain. This is starting to look awfully familiar and if i didn’t know better all Poch’s posturing is looking mightily like Mon Brave mkII.
Interesting to see Norwich have just signed Sam Byram from West Ham. Why would they need another right-back unless Max Aarons is on his way. If he is I hope we are in the queue to sign him.
I for one thought the 2nd quote is a perfect response. Its not that he is not for sale, its that there is no such thing because at the right price even Ronaldo and Neymar were sold.
Would rather watch Toby play one more year and leave on a free. His wages won’t be better elsewhere than what we could afford to pay him…..but Levy refuses to pay anything close to what he is worth, nor what we could afford.
He maybe is feeling unloved, so better net pay. Easier league for older bones, possibly a nicer place to live, schooling and a better climate than where he currently resides.
Mid week comes around………nooooooothing. Its all the same shit. Couple weeks till season starts. Too late now to get any integration anyway. NFL! NFL!

Calling all welders (with a 6g ticket) the battersea project crying out for welders (pipe&plate) untold work there. £250\350 a day if you’re good. I can’t believe there is no welding \fabricating courses in Haringey.
The Tottenham Hotspur foundation is littered with gooners and I give it to all of them. Not only as in your teams shit but also how could you work for the enemy. They hate that. You’ve got a cockerel on your chest son. I could never wear a big gun on my chest.

When the window was created all leagues should have been told to obey by the same windows. January window would be mid season for us, and summer for other leagues, so just make them even window lengths.

Latest junk…CE to United or Athletico for £90m…are either of those teams better short term moves for CE? Surely he would be better staying?
