Alderweireld To Arsenal?

The Daily Star isn’t ordinarily a Harry Hotspur ‘go to go’ for substantive source articles, however this actually from Ian McGarry, which adds enough gravitas.

“My understanding is the information coming out of Arsenal is this is not a mischievous bid for Alderweireld, they are serious about it.

“Alderweireld himself is aware of the interest of Arsenal, and of course if they meet that release clause, Spurs are duty bound and have no reason to stop the Belgian international from speaking to Arsenal.”

Were this to happen it would be undoubtedly a dark day for Tottenham, however, there’s no reason to get bent of shape right now.

The guy across the street may fancy your wife, but that doesn’t mean the woman you married is on the verge of leaving you for him.

The reality is that Toby would be taking a significant step down – and it would defy all reason to find out that Toby didn’t also realize that.

Arsenal are scrambling right now. That’s the truth. Hell, if I was running the Woolwich show, I’d also be running the old Harry Redknapp sketch – looking for old, reliable hands who were comparatively cheap to feed, in order to shore the squad up.

Lampard now managing Chelsea is another exercise in expectation management.

Now is the time for Spurs to get stuck in.

Good lord, the mind boggles. Having said that, Toby is probably 100% what the goons need right now, a stabilising influence at the back as what they have now is a disaster waiting to happen. I’m hoping as you say that it’s just another of their fantasy stories !!” By the way, not hijacking the post, but what’s the take on the ‘Delle Alli Passing out drunk’ saga?? Some have said that ‘He’s just pissed, so leave him alone’, others ‘Should he be pissed like that just before reporting back for pre-season’. Is this young man going to waste another season completely distracted from the job of playing football??

Ignore this ‘Alli’ bit fellow Spurs, Harry has started another convo on that subject !!

PERSONALLY – I don’t think the entirety of the Toby issue is money, just looking at the new deals Levy is giving, and the reported amount Ndombele is on I cant begin to think Levy is so stupid to not offer Toby AT LEAST £175k a week. So I would guess its either that he is only being offered 2-3yrs or he simply thinks its now or never to win silverware..

Either way, I cant see Arsenal winning anything in 3yrs, and I cant see them offering a 30yr old much more than that.

Like to think that the bookies are shrewd in judgement of such things, and Toby to Ar$e is still 33/1, so highly unlikely going by that! Interestingly though, Ceballos to Spurs was 3/1 yesterday and is now 4/6! Some truth in what I’m reading maybe? Sessegnon is 1/5 & Lo Celso 1/3 so I’m hanging my hat on these bookies being shrewd!

Is Ian Mcgarry that twat who was on sky sports many years ago ?? He was a laughing stock then, and I would be surprised if anyone would listen to his coments.
What qualifies him as an expert ?

Tottenham sports Center will be celebrating 50 years on Saturday 13th. (Tottenhams BIG daddy club involved) loads of things gonna be happening for the kids not only sports wise (ill be putting table tennis bats into the hands of the juniors to see what they’ve got or may have) other stuff too including animals and a fire engine☺) balling going on on the plastic pitch. Come along but not without the kidsgrandkids☺ my grandson can’t wait to smash them on the table tennis table and keepy uppy. Mabbsy should come and show them his foot to warn them what too much bloody sugar can do!

Mcgarry is notorious for inventing stories about Spurs. At the daily star he can do it with impunity since making stuff up is their MO.

Terry, Ferdinand, Adams etc were all retained into their mid-thirties, the reticence to tie Toby down is Baffling.

I sincerely hope that Toby has more class then to take the ‘Judas’ money. Given the apparent state of Arsenal’s financials the 30 pieces of silver could be old milk bottle tops. Judas left ot win trophies because he wasn’t going to with us realistically and he did. Entirely different scenario for Toby now. Arse can’t even with the Wenger cup for 4th place.

A CB should be able to play until 35 personally, the average at least. Some may push further, but considering a large aspect of their game is experience over pace, they should be better as they get older.

I would be very upset if Toby went to the goons.
How much does he want in wages ?? Give him and Verts a big pay rise and a two /three year contract each, they deserve it. Must also do the same and keep Danny Rose, where you going to find a better left back without spending 50 million ???
Do not undo a good defense, may sell trippier and bring max Aarons from Norwich.

If players don’t wanna play for us anymore I don’t give a fuck where they go. Get out. See ya.

I really can’t see this happening. Unless it does. But it won’t. He’ll stay on as will Verts- new shiny 2 year extensions.
