Alan Brazil urges Tottenham to stay away from overrated striker

By Mehdi Gokal -

Alan Brazil has warned Tottenham to stay away from signing Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian is one of the names linked with a move to Spurs as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb has claimed that the North London club are interested in signing him on a loan.

But Brazil has warned Spurs against it. Speaking on TalkSport, Brazil described Lukaku as a “busted flush,” suggesting that he has lost the qualities that made him successful in the past.

He indicated that Lukaku was no longer the same strong and decisive player he used to be, and that pursuing a move for him could be risky.

He further mentioned that Tottenham fans might be skeptical of such a signing, suggesting that Lukaku could face additional pressure to perform from the very start if he were to join the club.

He said:

“I think he’s a busted flush now. Listen, when he was at his best, he was strong, he was almost… ‘Give me the ball’ and bang, he’d smash them in. He’s just lost his way. No, you find someone else.”

“I don’t mean that [being a busted flush] nastily, but no. Tottenham fans will be like, ‘What? No way.’ Right away, he’s up against it.”

TBH Says:

Brazil is right. A move for Lukaku would be a huge risk for Spurs.

He has not been the same player as he was a couple of years ago and his form has only dipped. The 30-year-old has also become more prone to injuries.

Tottenham should focus on other available strikers that may be much better options compared to the ageing Belgian.
