Aguero To Spurs Would Send Out A Very Bad Signal To Season Ticket Holders|opinion

The next set of season ticket renewals will make for interesting reading, as many fans will now have a much clearer idea of where they stand financially than they did last time around. The economy in the UK has taken a seismic hit and the full extent of the damage is yet to be totted up. Many thousands have already lost their jobs and a great many more are waiting to see if a recovery actually happens. We all saw that after the first lockdown that businesses continued to suffer, empty barbershops and half-full bars and restaurants indicated that people were still uncomfortable in many social settings, although supermarkets don’t appear to have skipped a beat, in fact, that’s the only sector to have actively thrived, aside from factories producing masks or hand sanitizers. My point here is that Some season tickets will not be renewed for any number of economic or personal reasons that have impacted society generally by the pandemic.

The Aguero to Tottenham story came from The Telegraph and prompted a good few responses from cynics online such as the one above. This sentiment might not be a million miles from the truth, given the author. This is not to say that THFC isn’t interested in the Argentine forward – which would be a cause for serious concern.

While some fans are determined to build a case for Mourinho being a force for evil, I take the pragmatic view that these are more or less the same bunch the ended up costing Pochettino his job. The Portuguese has a dysfunctional backline and gaps in his midfield and cherry on the past its sell-buy cake is the infliction of Gareth Bale who only shines against teams in lower divisions.

To add a 32-year-old to the mix would be another terrible decision. Sergio is no longer a great player and without any determined disrespect is a has-been, just like Bale.

When weighing up the value of a season ticket to watch this rabble of leftovers and assorted oddments, one has to wonder what the selling points are. There’s also the small matter of no European football – which could be an issue to really blow up if Tottenham were to be saddled with a place in the European Conference League – Europa’s new third tier of competition. The Europa League was just about tolerable, but for a club with a billion-pound stadium, this wooden spoon of a tournament would be embarrassing.

Aguero is the last player Tottenham need and the list of Daniel Levy’s problems is longer than the one from the THST’s.

Does a Tottenham season ticket represent value to you right now, or has the investment company left its offer looking a little pale?
