‘Absolutely top class’: Kyle Walker a fan of Tottenham-linked star

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The 28-year-old has done well for the Toffees in recent seasons and he has established himself as a first-choice keeper for Gareth Southgate in the England squad.

Pickford has been outstanding for England in the last World Cup and the European championships. He has done well in the World Cup this year as well.

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and it will be interesting to see if the Londoners decide to bring him in as the long-term replacement for club captain Hugo Lloris.

The French international has not been at his best this season and he has been criticised for his error-prone displays.

Antonio Conte will have to find a quality long-term replacement for the Frenchman and Pickford seems like an ideal option. The 28-year-old is well settled in the Premier League as he could make an immediate impact at Spurs.

Furthermore, the move to the London club would be a step up in the player’s career as well and he would get to experience Champions League football with them.

Former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has now heaped praise on the England international goalkeeper and revealed that he has done exceptionally well to dislodge Joe Hart as England’s number one.

He also added that Pickford has been top-class for club and country in recent seasons and he gets on well with the Everton goalkeeper.

Walker said: “I think he’s been absolutely top class for England. I spend a lot of time with him outside of the training field and we get along really well.

“I’ve got nothing but praise to say for Jordan and congratulations on getting your 50th cap on Saturday. Hopefully, he can put in the performances he’s been putting in for the last number of years.

“To move Joe Hart off the pedestal was a big statement for him to say he’s on the international stage. He’s not let us down, he’s been fantastic and hopefully that can continue for many years.”
