‘A warrior, a fighter. We need this type of player’ – Conte drools over Spurs summer signing

By Saikat -

Tottenham picked up a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League and summer signing Richarlison played a key role in the victory.

The Brazilian produced the assist for Hojbjerg’s opening goal late on in the first half.

The 25-year-old joined Spurs for a fee of around £60 million earlier this summer but he was handed his first start of the Premier League campaign against Fulham today.

Richarlison did impress during his cameos initially and Antonio Conte was thoroughly pleased with the former Everton star’s display in his first Premier League start for Spurs.

The forward worked hard and created chances for his teammates. He managed to put the ball in the net as well but it was ruled out by the officials due to offside.

Speaking to Football London during the post-match presser, Conte heaped praise on Richarlison for his mentality and approach. He also maintained that Spurs will need players like him to be successful.

Conte said: “I’m using him in all three positions up front…No,9, on the right, on the left. In the previous game he played in Son’s positions and today started in Deki’s position. I’m not unsurprised but I’m enjoying he working a lot to go into our idea very quickly. Feel his personality, he’s a warrior, a fighter. We need this type of player. For me he played in a massive way. He played very well, with personality, with quality. Found difficult passes between the lines.”

Romero did a very similar thing v Brighton when Trossard scored in the last minute. Dier did his usual, stand still and hit it around me stance when he should pressure the ball.

Fair point as it isn’t like him from what we have witnessed so far.

He slowed a bit towards the end of the game, maybe a returning from injury thing

The MOTD analysis and Shearer’s praise was warranted, it was a good all round performance

I’m staying with the positives . A very decent , not scintillating performance , but please a round of applause for Richarlison who is beating off the nay-sayers and producing .
So sad the disallowed goal , I believe could have been the catalyst for a few more in coming games .
But how about the revelation that was Emerson Royal , confidence surging alongside his running and some of his one touch passing was a joy .
Back to Charli , how is he gonna be left out in those truly ‘big games’ now ?
I think he’s winning hearts and minds and suddenly the price has lost its significance , a very willing , industrious , capable acquisition methinks ???

I like Romero, but he didn’t look good getting turned by Mitrovic and was poor and slow in then trying to rectify the situation.A lesson learned hopefully,he’s better than that.

Richarlison is one of those players that gets under the skin of the opposition. He puts himself about a bit, he niggles, he needles, but he can play. The boy has a more than decent skill set and he plays with passion. The fans love that, myself included, which is why he was so popular at Everton.

It was a seamless transition, with Kulu rested yesterday, as Richy is able to play all across the front line. As an aside, I also had a warm feeling when Kulu and Perisic came on as subs. Real quality from the bench, as opposed to the more customary drop off in quality and the quick prayer, “I hope blah doesn’t f***k it up!

We may look a lot of things this season but we don’t look a ‘soft touch’…that’s thanks to signings like this one and Romero.
