A report makes bold claim as to why Antonio Conte isn’t managing Manchester United

Since arriving in north London, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has turned Tottenham Hotspur around. The Italian tactician now has Spurs in the top four and controls their destiny if they want to finish in the top four.

After seeing Conte’s work in north London, some pundits are asking why Manchester United didn’t jump all over the 52-year-old when he was out of a job. However, Manchester Evening News reports that Cristiano Ronaldo vetoed Conte as a potential Manchester United manager earlier this season.

The Red Devils asked Ronaldo for his opinion on their managerial uncertainty in October. Conte was open to accepting the job at Manchester United, but he was handed the Spurs reins instead, remaining out of employment until November.

Manchester United instead hired Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager and are reportedly set to hire Erik ten Hag. Nonetheless, they remain out of the top four and have a tough hill to climb if they want to win Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, Spurs might consider thanking the 37-year-old if he didn’t want The Red Devils to appoint Conte considering the heights the Italian tactician can take the club if appropriately backed this summer.
