Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
According to Sky Sports, journalist Lyle Thomas, the North London outfit are looking to sign the 20-year-old this summer and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with the Dutch outfit.
“The plan as I outlined it is that they’re looking to sign a right winger basically, someone who can play anywhere across the front, but predominantly from the right. They have three options, one of those is well-established in Brennan Johnson, the other two are sort of unconfirmed, but a couple of names have been thrown at me today from sources outside the club, one being Ansu Fati from Barcelona and another being PSV winger Johan Bakayoko, he’s a new one that’s emerged,” Thomas said on Last Word on Spurs.
It is no surprise that Spurs are looking at attacking reinforcements, especially after the departure of Harry Kane.
The England international joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer and Tottenham will have to replace his goal-scoring and creative output.
It is unlikely that Spurs will be able to sign a player who can replace Kane all by himself, and they might need to sign multiple players in order to compensate for his departure.
Bakayoko has been an important first-team player for the Dutch outfit and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.
The 20-year-old will add goals and assists to the Spurs attack if he joins the club.
Bakayoko has scored nine goals and he picked up six assists across all competitions last season and he has the potential to develop into a key player for the Premier League side.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive proposition for the talented youngster and he will look to continue his development with regular football at a high level.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou prefers free-flowing attacking football and the Australian could be the ideal manager to get the best out of the 20-year-old in the coming season.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs can secure an agreement with PSV in the next few days now.
