Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has lavished praise on summer signing Richarlison after his brace against Marseille in the UEFA Champions League.

The 25-year-old joined Tottenham for a fee of around £60 million during the summer transfer window and he has managed to hit the ground running at his new club.

The Brazilian has not been handed regular first-team football at the London club so far but he has thoroughly impressed with his cameos. Richarlison was given his Champions League debut against Marseille on Wednesday night and the 25-year-old grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

He scored two late goals to hand Tottenham a vital three points in the Champions League group opener and club captain Lloris has now heaped praise on the Tottenham summer signing.

The Frenchman revealed that Richarlison works very hard in training and he has been rewarded for his efforts. He further added that the Brazilian is likely to taste more success if he keeps up his approach in the coming months.

Lloris said to Football London: “I think he’s making a lot of effort every day in training, every time he has the opportunity in a game and today he scored two great headers. Obviously, he made the game easy for us.

“He’s a competitor. You just have to see him in training sessions or every game that we play, he’s always there to compete. To put the defenders under stress and pressure. That’s why he was rewarded today for all his work. And for sure a lot is coming for him.”
