This is probably the least confident Spurs game I’ve been looking forward to all season, because, if we field Dele Alli, Harry Winks, and Davinson Sanchez, then bar a miracle, Royal Antwerp have been handed a distinct boost. And that’s if I deliberately overlook Joe Hart’s last performance.
Here we have a side with potential struggle all over it – arguably against any team in the world. My eyes will be on the bench. I wish I had more faith in some of the second raters we may well see before us.

I didn’t see that coming, four defenders not enough let’s go with five, playing Davies back as a CH were he made the mistake for the goal in Antwerp.
The only thing winning tonight secures is the second leg game in the knockout round is at home. We could win and be drawn against one of the four unseeded CL dropouts.
Yes, they did play very well and as you say, deserved to beat us. I agree that Jose will not take them likely, however Sunday’s game against Palace is followed by an even more important game against Liverpool next Wednesday. Given such little rest time, we cannot afford to start our first team stars tonight and reluctantly, I admit, for the most part, we must entrust this game to the second team/squad players.
The weekend is a must win, but so is tonight.
We don’t want to go into our biggest test of the season next week having lost to Palace.
They played a great match in the reverse tie & deserved to beat us.
Jose will not take them lightly again with his starting 11.
He wants to win this as much as Sunday so it’ll be strong then use the 5 subs
I can see Jose prioritising tonight over the weekend. Tonight is must win, the weekend is not.
Enjoy the meat slicer & stop talking rubbish mate.
Think Loris will start with the backline above.
Bale definitely will play, & maybe Son with Vinícius.
Ndombele for LeCelso
Plausible, albeit optimistic, selection, as much depends on how the Twerps perform. If they perform with the same physicality and commitment as last time we may struggle again. The only difference now is that they have qualified and we are at home.
Overlooking big Joe’s propensity for palming the ball into his own net and Sanchez’s penchant for heading it in the same location, plus Harry Wink’s “No, you go first Lanzini!” defensive qualities, fills one with the kind of optimism one might feel waiting at the gallows for one’s impending execution!
Under such less than auspicious circumstances, my selection to implausibly beat up the Twerps … Hart; Davies, Tanganga, Sanchez, Doherty; Winks, Alli, Sissoko; Lucas, Sid (Vinicious) Bale. Leaving a strong sub’s bench should reinforcements, almost inevitably, be needed.
wouldnt it be better to wait until mourinho announces the team?he has youngsters he may choose to include, he has bale,he has other first teamers he might include.in fact its ideal match in which to play the likes of clarke, white and cirkin who ive heard a lot about..after all its a sub standard team were playing and the result means nothing really anyway….its a chance to be expansive,to experiment ,throw caution to the winds for once..to see if there is hope for the future..give the youngsters a chance
I think the team will be stronger than that side, then sub the big boys
who said satire was dead
Every single player in this lineup has everything to prove to justify their worth to the manager – other than Sissoko…and maybe Moura/Davies at a pinch
It’s certainly plausible
N ‘Dombele to start instead of Sissoko, I would also play Lloris instead of Hart.
methinks we need more defensive minded players about 4 of them..and why on earth do we need vinicus? hes an attacker isnt he? maybe if we play lloris alongside hart we might improve our chances of getting a clean sheet again?..ill tune in at full time to see if we won..i watched quite enoughrubbish last sunday ..i cant deal with watching 2 matches a week…90 minutes once a week is enough (too much?) for me…..besides the co-op has got the bacon slicer working again think ill watch that instead.
