The faster this squad stops thinking for itself and leaves the mental heavy lifting to Mourinho the better. The recurring theme from the post-match pressers is that the gaffer needs to be surrounded by players he can trust, players who are willing to be courageous. That game against LASK was whatever the diametric opposite of courage might be, with a general vide coming from our lot being, ‘is this going to take long, ‘cos it’s a bit cold?
All in all a revealing match for José, and one that only serves to reaffirm my belief that January is going to be a busy month.

Poor performance last night, most of the players just coasting & taking the match for granted, not good enough.
Hope José has ripped into them & put them right.
Absolutely right. They are so lucky they don’t know they’re born.A generation that wants everything on a plate, full of entitlement.Last night was an embarrassment.
I always love the old Jose way…his fault for a great performance, players at fault for a bad one. Yes, I agree the players were on cruise control “Its only LASK” last night, but its up to him to gee them up.
No they’re a bunch of overpaid wasters thinking that just putting on the shirt is enough, like last night.
Players must be very stupid and entitled if they dont think they need to bust a gut to get in the first 11 or just for themselves, the manager or us. They dont help themselves do they…
That’s what I’m thinking, these ropey group games are like the early rounds of the FA cup, largely meaningless aside from doing the bare minimum to get through. Once that trophy comes into view, then the motivation will be there, I’m convinced of it..
