Spurs rivaling Newcastle, Leicester for French midfielder while loanee discusses his future in north London

The midfield is an area of need for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and there are various names connected to the north London club as they find one that fits what manager Antonio Conte wants.

Last year, Spurs went looking in Ligue 1 for a midfielder, leading to them buying Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz, and it seems as though the Premier League club could be going back to France for another midfielder.

According to But Football Club, Tottenham is among several Premier League clubs eyeing RC Lens’ Seko Fofana. Along with the north London side, Newcastle United, Leicester City, and Aston Villa are also interested in the 26-year-old.

Fofona is under contract until 2024, and Lens could look to sell this summer due to the several clubs having an interest. Transfermarkt puts the midfielder’s transfer value at £18-million.

While Spurs decide whether or not to pursue Fofona, they’ll need to make a decision on Bryan Gil, who’s on loan at Valencia and has flourished since returning to Spain.

The 21-year-old recently spoke with Marca, where he gave some insight as to what he prefers to happen, whether Gil is open to a return to north London or perhaps decide to remain with Valencia or another club in Spain.

“There are very nice games left and experiences that we are going to live very nice before the end of the season, why it is better to think about those games than what will happen next. Nobody knows what may happen tomorrow and it will be decided in the summer is the only that I can say,” Gil said.
