£55m Premier League star backed to join Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham were interested in signing James Maddison in the summer but it was revealed that they did not make a move for him because ‘they were not given any encouragement that he would be available‘.

Despite his current club Leicester City struggling to find their feet this season with zero wins and being thrashed 6-2 by Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur, Maddison has continued his excellent form from last year.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract with the Foxes, and given the club’s dismal start to the season, it was reported that the Englishman is going to make a decision about his future at the end of the season. But after being left out of England’s latest squad, he has become a hot topic in the media once again.

And TalkSport’s Simon Jordan has backed the Leicester City star to join Tottenham. While discussing Maddison and whether he’s good enough to play for a club like Tottenham Hotspur on TalkSport’s YouTube channel, he said:

“I think he could play in Tottenham’s side, I think he could play in Arsenal’s side – if Arsenal are considered to be a top-six side other than just the temporary position that they’re in now, and that may not be the long-term position they stay in.

“He’s a good player, and I think he’s maturing and I think there’s less Jack Dash about him and the sort of smug, David Bentley sort of attitude that I felt he had at one particular point.

“He’s a good player in a bad side in terms of the way Leicester are playing at this moment in time.

“I think James Maddison has all the talent to go up a level and go into a ‘big six’ club and perform at that level.”

There is no debate about just how much Tottenham need a creative midfielder in their team. Despite being unbeaten in the league, most of their performances have been hard to watch. They seem to have struggled to break down teams for most of their games.

A player like James Maddison would fit right into the team bringing in the much needed creativity that the team lacks as well as pitching in with goals from the midfield.

Only Man City have scored more than us so far. Perhaps our problem is just adjustment to system and new players. Given the disruptive effect of those two issues we are doing Ok but still can get better.

Yes please!!! Let’s bring him in and see what he adds to the side because every game shows we need a bright spark in midfield!! The defence are getting stronger but the counter attacking play is as boring as fk! Kane, Son, Kulusevaki and Richarlison need to be scoring more if Spurs are going to be seen to be progressing!😃
