27-year-old UCL winner ‘an object of desire’ for Tottenham as they look to fix problem position

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their defensive unit and they have identified Andreas Christensen as a potential target.

A report from Fichajes claims that the 27-year-old Barcelona defender is ‘an object of desire’ for the North London club and they will face competition from Manchester United.

Christensen has established himself as an important first-team player for Barcelona and he helped them win the league title. There is no doubt that he could prove to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham as they look to fix the defensive problems.

Tottenham are lacking in depth when it comes to the defensive unit and they need to sign a couple of quality central defenders.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are the only quality central defenders at the club right now and Tottenham are expected to lose Eric Dier in the coming months.

The 27-year-old Denmark international knows the Premier League well, having played in it with Chelsea. He helped the Blues win the UEFA Champions League trophy during his time in England.

He could settle in quickly and make an immediate impact if he returns to the Premier League with Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona are prepared to sanction his departure.

The Spanish giants are going through financial difficulties and Tottenham should look to test their resolve with a lucrative offer in the coming months. A January exit seems unlikely and therefore Tottenham should look to make their move in the summer.
