26-year-old Tottenham ace set to be dropped from the national team

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has had a disappointing start to the new season and he is now set to be dropped from the national team for the upcoming game against Uruguay.

As per GLOBO, the Brazil manager has decided to drop him in favour of the Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus. Richarlison has scored just twice in all competitions for Spurs this season and he has now failed to score in six consecutive games.

The 26-year-old is clearly going through a rough patch and it remains to be seen whether he can bounce back strongly.

He has been criticised heavily for his performances since the start of the season. He was expected to fill the void left by Harry Kane but his performances have been extremely mediocre.

The former Everton striker was never a prolific goalscorer but his overall footballing ability has suffered due to the loss of confidence in recent months as well.

There is no doubt that the Brazilian has the technical attributes to develop into a quality player for Tottenham but he will need to regain his confidence and sharpness soon.

Spurs are on top of the league table, and they will want to push for the league title. If Richarlison fails to deliver in the coming months, it wouldn’t be surprising if the north London outfit decided to invest in a quality striker.

If the situation doesn’t improve, quite radically, then questions have to be asked by Postecoglou. Losing Kane ought to have given Richarlison the kick he needed, and it hasn’t.
