23-year-old’s summer exit could collapse due to Tottenham demands

By Saikat -

Djed Spence’s permanent move to Genoa could soon collapse because of Tottenham’s high asking price.

Spence made the move to Tottenham back in the summer of 2022. While he was expected to have a bright future at the North London club, things haven’t gone according to plan. The English full-back has only featured in six matches for their first team so far.

Spurs are ready to part ways with the 23-year-old and Genoa are keen on signing him permanently. But, according to reports via Calcio Genoa, the move could collapse as the Italian outfit do not have any intentions of meeting Tottenham’s demands and they willing to slow down their pursuit.

Spence was on loan at Leeds United for the first half of the 2023/24 season but he hardly got any game time. He was back at the club during the winter before making the move to Genoa on a short loan until the end of the season.

He was involved in 16 matches during his stint in Italy. While he didn’t contribute towards a goal, Spence managed to impress one and all with his performances and ability to feature on both flanks. On the back of an impressive spell, the Italian club are keen on signing him but Spurs’ asking price is not helping their cause.

With still three years left on his deal at the North London club, they are looking for just under €10 million something that doesn’t suit Genoa. Sporting director Marco Ottolini who was working on a potential deal with the London club, has decided to slow things down. The Italian club are ready to look elsewhere for more economical objectives as they are aware of Spurs’ reputation of being hard to negotiate with.
