Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has been linked with a move away from the Italian club in recent months.
The 23-year-old is highly rated around Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. However, Roma have not managed to secure a contract extension with him and the player’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024.
As per Gazzetta, Roma are prepared to cash in on the player this month, and the midfielder is dreaming of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have been linked with the highly talented playmaker for quite some time. Antonio Conte knows all about the player having watched him closely during his time in Italy and Spurs could definitely use someone like him on their side.
Tottenham have a number of quality midfielders at their disposal, but they are lacking in creativity in the middle of the park.
Someone like Zaniolo will add technical ability, flair and craft from the central areas. He can operate as a winger, as well as his versatility will be an added bonus.
The opportunity to join a club like Spurs will be a tempting proposition for the Italian and the opportunity to work with a manager like Antonio Conte will be hard to turn down.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs come forward with a concrete proposal for the midfielder before the January window closes.
Bringing in the right additions in January could help Tottenham secure Champions League qualification, and the Londoners are already thought to be closing in on a deal to sign the Sporting CP defender Pedro Porro.
