Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has been linked with a move to the Premier League this month.
Apparently, Roma are prepared to sell the 23-year-old attacking midfielder in January, and Tottenham are hoping to secure his services.
According to a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Sportwitness), Tottenham are prepared to pay €30 million for the player at the end of the season but they want him on loan right now.
Roma are prepared to loan the player out this month if a club agrees to make a compulsory purchase at the end of the season.
While the Italians value the player at €40 million, they will accept the €30 million offer if it’s a guaranteed fee.
However, Tottenham are only willing to accept the obligation to buy the player permanently if they manage to secure Champions League qualification and Roma are unhappy with that.
Apparently, the Italian outfit have said no to the proposal but the player’s agent Claudio Vigorelli is expected to fly to London next week in order to accelerate talks.
It will be interesting to see if the two parties can come to an agreement soon.
Tottenham could certainly use a creative presence in their midfield and Zaniolo would be a quality long-term addition.
The 23-year-old can play as a winger as well and his versatility will be an added bonus.
Tottenham need more quality in their side if they want to secure Champions League qualification and the Italian international midfielder could galvanize the squad during the second half of the campaign.
