23-year-old agrees to join Tottenham, club demanding £40m plus add-ons

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to complete the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon before the January transfer window closes.

According to a report from the Mirror, the 23-year-old defender has agreed to join the Premier League club but the Londoners need to agree on a deal with Sporting.

The Portuguese outfit reportedly looking for a fee of around £40 million plus performance-related add-ons.

However, Tottenham are looking to send a player on loan to Sporting and they are prepared to submit a cash offer of around £27 million.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to a compromise before the January window closes.

Tottenham are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements and the Spaniard would be an upgrade on the likes of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal. Both full-backs have been unconvincing this season and Antonio Conte needs to bring in a quality right-back before the January window closes.

Porro has been in outstanding form this season picking up 10 assists from the right-back position. He managed to impress against Tottenham in the Champions League games as well.

The 23-year-old could prove to be a quality long-term addition and he could sort out Tottenham’s right-back position for the foreseeable future.

The defender certainly has the quality to justify the £40m asking price in the long run and it remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to break the bank for his services.

Spurs need a full-back who can contribute at both ends of the pitch and Porro seems like the ideal fit in theory.
