£22m star’s move to Spurs this season collapsed because of ‘stubbornness’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson in recent months.

The 25-year-old defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League for months, but the transfer has not worked out.

A report from the Turkish publication Aksam claims that Tottenham were seriously interested in signing the Danish defender at the start of the season and their interest was intense.

However, the move collapsed because of the Turkish club’s ‘stubbornness’. Apparently, Galatasaray were holding out for a fee of around £22 million and Tottenham did not want to pay that much.

The report further states that West Ham United are keen on signing the defender for next season and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the Turkish outfit to lower their asking price.

Tottenham eventually signed players like Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Ashley Phillips. The likes of Van de Ven have been quite impressive so far and Dragusin will hope to establish himself as a key player in the coming months. Meanwhile, Phillips remains a long-term prospect.

As for Nelsson, he will be thoroughly disappointed to have missed out on a move to a club like Tottenham, and it remains to be seen whether he can secure his move to the Premier League at the end of the season. West Ham would be a quality option for him, especially now that they are competing in Europe.
