Tottenham signed Djed Spence during the summer transfer window, but the young defender is yet to cement his place in the starting lineup.
The 22-year-old right-back is yet to start a single game for Tottenham in the Premier League or the Champions League. He has been linked with a loan move away from the London club when the transfer window opens in January.
The defender had an excellent season with Nottingham Forest last season and he helped them secure promotion to the Premier League. Spurs decided to pursue him as a long-term investment and signed him from Middlesbrough for a fee of around £20 million.
Spence was expected to address Tottenham’s right-back issues, but the youngster has not managed to win over the trust of his manager yet.
Tottenham have been reliant on the likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, both of whom have been quite underwhelming this season.
The fact that Antonio Conte has chosen to persist with them despite their mediocre performances speaks volumes about his opinion regarding Spence.
The young defender has now fuelled further speculations surrounding his future at the club by deleting all Instagram posts related to Tottenham. He also removed Tottenham from his bio.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to loan the player out when the transfer window opens in January. The youngster needs regular football to continue his development and a loan spell away from the London club could be ideal for him.
