Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the north London club have now been handed a boost in their pursuit of the 22-year-old defender.
Apparently, the player’s camp have informed Wolfsburg that the player has a ‘strong desire’ to join Tottenham and ‘negotiations are underway’ between the two clubs.
Apparently, the defender is a top target for the Premier League club.
Meanwhile, Spurs continue to make contacts regarding the Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba as well.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can get both players across the line before the window closes.
Van de Ven has established himself as a reliable defender in the Bundesliga and he would certainly help Spurs improve defensively.
Tottenham missed out on Champions League qualification last year and they will be desperate to finish in the top four. Improving defensively should be one of their top priorities next season. They conceded 63 goals in the league last year and someone like Van de Ven will certainly help them tighten up at the back.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old is still relatively young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. Regular football in the Premier League could help him develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential.
The fact that the player is keen on a move to Tottenham will certainly give them an advantage when it comes to transfer negotiations.
It remains to be seen whether they can convince the German club to accept a reasonable fee for the player now.
