22-year-old forward quits Tottenham Hotspur with immediate effect

By Saikat -

Tottenham have parted ways with young winger Jeremie Mukendi.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 22-year-old has mutually terminated his contract with the Premier League club.

Mukendi has been on Tottenham’s books since 2017. He was a key part of the club’s U18 squad before moving on to the U23s.

The young winger was expected to break into the first-team scene eventually but a series of injuries affected his development.

Mukendi’s contract with the London club had expired at the start of the season but Spurs decided to keep him on and he represented the London club for the under-21s during pre-season.

However, it seems that both parties have now decided to go separate ways.

The 22-year-old needs to join a club where he can get regular first-team football, which will aid his development.

As a youth player, he was highly rated and Mukendi possessed a breathtaking pace. He was expected to develop into an important first-team player for the Londoners as well.

Injuries have clearly played a big part in the stalling of his development and it remains to be seen whether the player can get over his niggling injury issues and get his career back on track.

Mukendi is still young enough to make a name for himself and fulfil his potential.
