Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the London club for months now.
Top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich have been linked with the 29-year-old in recent seasons but the Londoners have done well to keep him at the club so far.
Kane has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024 and there have been rumours of a potential extension soon.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the player to commit his long-term future to the club.
There have been speculations that the player could look to move on at the end of the season so that he can join a big club and finally win a trophy in his career.
Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft asked the England international whether he is prepared to continue at Tottenham beyond this season. Kane, who recently became the all-time top scorer at Tottenham, claimed that he is just looking to perform on a weekly basis and give it his all for the club.
Furthermore, he added that he is concentrated on winning trophies and finishing as high as possible in the table with Tottenham this season and will decide on his future after that.
He said (h/t TBRFootball): “Yeah look, I’m just here to perform every game and give my all for the badge so we’ll see what happens.
“But I’m concentrating on this season, we’ve got the FA Cup, we’ve got the Champions League coming up and we’re in a good position in the league to really try and push forwards so that’s all I’m concentrating on.”
The departure of Harry Kane would be a devastating blow for Tottenham at the end of the season and the Londoners must do everything in their power to keep the £200k-a-week striker at the club.
Meanwhile, they should look to extend the contract of manager Antonio Conte as well. The Italian is a world-class manager whose departure will certainly have an effect on the future of key players.
The likes of Kane could feel that Spurs’ chances of winning trophies will go down significantly without Conte at the helm next season.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
