Predictable enough fare from a source close to the club this evening, and I am given to understand that Spurs are keen to move on Dele Alli as swiftly as possible, preferably in the fast approaching January window. This comes with a caveat of sorts, in so much that Daniel Levy would prefer to see Dele come good and come back; quite if this desire revolves around the commercial worth of Alli or some other inherent belief that has passed José by remains to be explained. The reality is, that under Mourinho, nobody amongst the playing staff is safe, least of all those that are either unwilling or unable to demonstrate an eagerness to embrace José’s core beliefs.
I take a view that Dele Alli has two choices, and once we have dispensed with the Danny Rose approach of wandering around Hotspur Way asking people ‘do you know who I am?’ then the most rational option is to find the right club to provide the 24-Year-Old with renewed sense of relevance. Dumped by England dumped by Spurs, this is an exhausted dialogue.
