? Starting XI vs Scousers?

By The Boy -

Picking this side is is almost certainly less about who Pochettino picks, and more about what he gets them to do.

The bones were picked out of the Watford game, but whoever theory was your favourite, my angst of choice was the dreadfully rigid 3-5-2 formation employed on the day.

Watford were handed an edge and Mauricio appeared incapable/unwilling to balance things up by adjusting tactically (see the last hurling on of Fernando Llorente for further details).

I’d suggest the Pochmeister notes that Liverpool have played 4-3-3 in all 4 of their opening games and it might be an idea to at least opt for either a 4-3-2-1 or a 4-3-1-2 which worked well against Newcastle United and Manchester United respectively.

GOAL-FEST? There have been 149 goals scored in Premier League meetings between Tottenham and Liverpool – Arsenal vs Everton is the only fixture to have seen more in the competition (151).

FIX BAYONETS! There have been more penalties awarded in Premier League matches between Tottenham and Liverpool than there have in any other fixture in the competition’s history (22).

THE STAT TO STOP Liverpool have won their last five Premier League games – they haven’t won six in a row since an 11-game run in April 2014 under Brendan Rodgers during a season in which they finished in second place.

SCORE ONE MORE THAN YOU In their last 20 home matches, Spurs have scored 2.1 goals per game and conceded 0.8 goals per game on average.
