Liverpool’s Mo Salah’s golden boot dual with Tottenham’s Harry Kane took a twist last week when the Tottenham forward was successful with his claim over Christian Eriksen’s second goal against Stoke City. The goal was eventually awarded to him as it did indeed brush his shoulder.

Shortly after that decision was announced, Salah tweeted “Wooooooow really?”

When that was put to him by PA Sport, Salah laughed and added: “I don’t want to say anything about that! In the end they said it’s his (Kane’s) goal so it’s finished for me.” Salah added:  “If you had a choice between the Champions League and (individual honours like the golden boot) then of course the Champions League. I have no doubt; (it’s) the Champions League.”

Clearly the Golden Boot is of significant interest to old Mo Salad, or he wouldn’t have piped up on Social Media with such a catty response.

The Liverpool ace is well within his rights to be pleased with his goal haul to date, and with the fact that Liverpool are on an extraordinary Champions League run. However the 25 year old Egyptian is unlikely to be quite so buoyant should the European dream come to naught, and could live to regret this ‘bigger fish to fry’ comment.

What a little rat. The matter clearly isn’t “finished” for him or he wouldn’t have immediately followed that statement with a snide remark about the Champions League. Hope they lose on penalties in the final and he misses the deciding spotkick.

But you know he’s the kind of slippery little shit who wouldn’t miss.

          Well, this escalated quickly…!

I don’t like the guy but I don’t think he was having a dig about the Champions League here – I think he just means he’d choose the winning the CL over him winning the Golden Boot. Knowing our luck, he’ll get both.

Every Politician who is complaining about not being consulted is clearly of little consequence, you didn’t matter, this decision was due to Prevention of Humanitarian Catastrophy and as such 100% Legal.

    Oh really Raz?
Why did she not stand up for the humanitarian angle when we (West) was agitating for the removal of Saddam and Gadaffi? 🤔

As a displaced Syrian pointed out on the radio, half a million civilians have died from convention weapons and bombs, and millions are in refugee camps and many are dying from illness, exposure, etc etc. He asked what’s special about dying from gas rather than a bullet?

      • Bruxie April 16, 2018 at 2:01 pm

They deserve a blog all of their own.

Half of the “news” is started by them to up their bank balance.

The PL needs to take a stand on fees to agents and create a transparent system.

Ron’s argument that the market is key is only as good as the rules and accountability which presides.

        • Caspurs♿️ April 16, 2018 at 2:08 pm

That needs to be addressed by FIFA not the FA, otherwise agents won’t recommend the PL to their cnuts, sorry I meant clients.

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? April 16, 2018 at 2:13 pm

I assume they’re too busy profiting from insider trading on unregulated betting markets and sodomizing small boys.

          • Bruxie April 16, 2018 at 2:24 pm

PL Clubs are subject to PL rules.

PL clubs paying a more than agreed Agent’s Fees per season should be sanctioned in some way.

FFP is part of this but not addressing the issue. Rich clubs will pay agents and get the favourable discounted “profit & loss” equation. Agent’s fees go in the expenditure column – but are they counted in the overall calculation?

            I don’t know.

            • Gloster1861 April 16, 2018 at 2:28 pm

What’s to stop any club giving an agent other hidden remuneration from elsewhere? Nothing. That’s the problem with FFP. For instance, If one of Abramovich’s other companies paid a consultancy fee to a football agent, no one would ever know.

            • Harry Hotspur April 16, 2018 at 2:36 pm

If they aren’t, then it’s pretty farcical.

        • Gloster1861 April 16, 2018 at 2:20 pm

The free market argument is always fatally compromised by the fact that there are, and never have been, any free markets which are not distorted and biased.

    • Camus April 16, 2018 at 1:57 pm

Won’t be long before this is slapped on the back of the Mirror – perhaps this week, in the run-up to the semi…

Its baffling to me. If that pleb have fabricated all that why isn’t he being bludgeoned to homelessness in the courts. He shouldn’t be able to operate anywhere in football. Its a farce you can get away with these things.

  • Bruxie April 16, 2018 at 1:43 pm

    Big week.
    Big month.

B&HA; Manure; Watford; WBA; Newcastle; Leicester.

After this weekend there are no easy games. Newcastle are firing under Rafa and WBA are basking in a win and a bit of pride. Watford & Leicester are similar obstacles.

My point being? Kane needs to stick a few in and put this top 4 business to bed as soon as…and not bother about some flakey boot award.

Otherwise we are reliant on Eriksen, Son and Delle do the biz and a nervous few weeks.
Who else scores for us on a “regular” basis?

I cannot believe how important tomorrow night is for the FA Cup and this season. And next.

    • Bruxie April 16, 2018 at 1:49 pm

      Goal difference.

      So bloody important.

11 in front of the racists. We might need it.

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? April 16, 2018 at 1:57 pm

We can’t miss out now surely? Chelsea and Arsenal have set out a 5 course meal and said to us, “tuck in lads, we aint hungry”. We may as well permanently suspend the New Build cos we won’t be getting top 4 again if we can’t do it in these circumstances.

        • Bruxie April 16, 2018 at 2:14 pm

I’m not taking anything for granted.

Five games…In my opinion we need the next nine points from three PL games. Messing about until Newcastle and Leicester is inviting Spursiness.

Assuming Chelscum win all of theirs.

Saturday’s S’hampton result was a really bad upturn for them.

The Kane goal seems to be hottest topic for all Liverpool fans, I wish my Liverpool mates would shut up about it because no one cares, but for everyone associated with Liverpool the jokes are relentless. I used to quite like Liverpool but now I very much hope they do not win the champions league, as we’ll all never hear the end of it. Smug *****

    • cyril April 16, 2018 at 1:49 pm

they did exactly the same when crouch had gone 18 games without a goal and they appealed the deflected goal that the goalie threw into his own net. still i do worry that kane is too focused on this and might shoot when a pass would be better. i thought we would have done better on saturday with son instead of kane (and wanyama instead of lamela) but that is sacrilege i know and not possible of contemplation if we want to be sure harry is happy

      • Wig April 16, 2018 at 1:55 pm

Kane is always looking for a goal before an assist, but that’s his nature to be the top goalscorer. But the one positive about that in games when he’s not given space to shoot, is he usually creates more space and time for the other midfielders around him to shoot, because the opponents defenders are tied up marking Kane. Hence why Eriksen has been getting so many opportunities

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? April 16, 2018 at 1:42 pm

Kane winning the Golden Boot last season, when at one stage he was way behind Lukaku, was met with a unanimous shrug by everyone but Spurs fans.
