Brendan Rodgers could be the next Arsenal manager.

That’s according to the Sun, who name the Celtic boss as one of a seven-man shortlist they say has been drawn up at Emirates Stadium.

There are claims that Arsene Wenger’s 22-year reign at the north London club could come to an end this summer and so the rumours have begun on his successor.

Rodgers is one of the first names to be linked with the job after he guided Celtic to an unbeaten season in Scotland last year. The Hoops have already retained their League Cup crown this season, are champions elect and have a Scottish Cup quarter-final tie coming up this weekend. Rodgers, of course, previously managed in the Premier League with Swansea and Liverpool, who he almost guided to the title in 2014.

Also linked with the job are former Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta and Germany boss Joachim Low. Arteta is currently a joint assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City while Low is preparing his Germany squad for this summer’s World Cup. Low has also been linked as a potential successor to Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

Four more names linked with Arsenal by the Sun are Thierry Henry, Carlo Ancelotti, Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paula Fonseca.

Presenter Jim White has questioned whether Rodgers should look to leave Celtic this summer.

“Surely Brendan Rodgers would be the perfect fit for Arsenal,” White said on his morning Talksport radio show.

“It would be the perfect time for him. Would Brendan not be wasting his time spending another year in Scotland? I think he’d be wasting his time staying at Celtic. He’s won everything. He’s proved himself up there.

“I know Celtic fans will be saying ‘that’s Jim White wearing his Rangers hat again’. But it has nothing to do with that.”

I’d be concerned if Conte went there, he could turn them around.

The new Arsenal manager is obvious. It’s got to be the one and only S*l C***bell. They deserve each other.

None other than S*l C***bell says he himself is the greatest thinker in football today. I think he said thinker.

Harry, if you still want a definition of ‘Bettterment’ this is mine:

Someone telling you what’s good for you, and doing it to you even if you don’t want it.

Lots of people think they know best, and all politicians do.

Saudis not too bad with Iraq, as it’s 40pc Sunni. Now, if it was Iran….

  • Real Fan? February 27, 2018 at 2:56 pm

I see Iraq are playing Saudi Arabia later. Wouldn’t like to be on the losing side in that one.

I can assure you that all you masturbating spuddies will be thoroughly disappointed when it’s time to replace a manger who has had more success with Arsenal than your club has had in the last 25 years!

Sven Mislintat and Sanhelli weren’t hired to make the same mistake United made when they had to replace sir. Fergie.

    It’ll be Ancelotti, no doubt.

Couple of years there for him, and then someone else – they’ll begin a cycle of managers like we had before Poch.

6th will become their new trophy.

  • David Dillenberg February 27, 2018 at 1:57 pm

Harshly dubbed a closet Gooner I have refrained from discussing this item!
