Who’ll Be Staring Into The Spiral Of Defeat?

By The Boy -

Gary Neville said: ‘I think Chelsea should get over the line but if their is a reduction in the gap to two points I think Chelsea would be under significant pressure and they would be in trouble,’ said Neville.

‘I think when you’ve let a ten-point lead go down to two, you’ve got a completely different mentality.

Tottenham are hunting, they’re chasing, they’re young and you wouldn’t see them do what they did last year where they faded away. The hunger would be there, that belief.

‘When you lose momentum at this time of the season, momentum is everything, the legs go, they’re heavy, the mind goes, you make mistakes.’

Neville is absolutely spot on.

The momentum is currently with Spurs. Not with Chelsea.

Pochettino will have the lads absolutely revved up to take the Blue Racists by the throat this weekend.

Whoever wins Saturday’s game will be given a colossal injection of self belief. None of this fingers crossed rubbish, but an evidence based boost.

The winner will believe that they can win both the cup and the league.

The loser will have to resist the spiral of defeat. The loser will have to kid themselves that the game didn’t;t matter, it was blip and that their hopes in the other competition are very much still alive.

This FA cup semi-final is the biggest game of the season for both sides by some distance.

So what will it be, a paradigm shift to announce the final arrival of Spurs, or a reminder that Chelsea are still Chelsea and for all the huff and puff, little of any real consequence has occurred.
