Since the FA Cup loss a reality check and mood has set in down Hotspur Way within the playing staff. The Juventus and Man Utd games has shown again good players mixed with mediocre / shit ones is not going to compete. Bringing on a useless so called striker with minutes to play is embarrassing. West Brom highlighted a deep weakness at the club which is a stubbornness to invest in top quality players who are used to winning. That will never happen. Poch is feeling the strain now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes if the right offer comes along. Same with the players.

  • spursmyarse May 6, 2018 at 10:08 am

Even if Botch was given unlimited funds, he would still be Shite.

    • Accy May 6, 2018 at 10:11 am

I love Poch, and want him to stay because the alternative is too horrendous. Look at Spam once Billic left. Leicester when Ranieri got the boot. He needs funds and decent players. Trouble is, we won’t pay the going rate so all the good players get hoovered up by bigger clubs. Cast offs is the best we can hope for.

I’m yet to be convinced that Poch ‘has an eye’ for a player in the transfer market.

But I’m willing to give him time. Much more time.

      • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 10:22 am

Poch has done very well turning us into a “nearly club” punching above our weight but perhaps after 4 years he has reached his limit?

        • Accy May 6, 2018 at 10:23 am

Had Fergie reached his limit after his first 5 years with Man U?

          • spursmyarse May 6, 2018 at 10:26 am

You can’t compare then and now, nor THFC with Man UTD. Man Utd are Winners, THFC are Pretenders, sorry but its the Truth

Unless I am mistaken his first solid Defence was Bruce – Pallister – Iriwn

          • Gloster1861 May 6, 2018 at 10:27 am

No. He just needed that star player, the catalyst. He was Eric Cantona, and Howard Wilkinson the epically dim Leeds manager kindly sold his team’s best player to Yanited.

Seasons end is almost upon us Glos, our objectives are almost achieved. It is football, we lost a tight game against an opponent who had 10 men behind the ball every time we had possesion and who were playing for their lives (almost).
Some of the hysterior on here is quite extrordinary.
We will beat Newcastle and Leicester and get third most likely.
Let us take stock of this season, with our record at Wembley most Spurs fans would have taken a good (we were much better then good in the UCL) CL showing and top four at the start, let alone after our early wobbles at “home”.
I am Calm as opposed to getting the hump over one game, i do care and will be there wednesday supporting the team and of course on sunday also.
        Keep it Tottenham!

        • Gloster1861 May 6, 2018 at 10:10 am

          It’s a league with 20 teams.

I think we do need a helpful result judging by our recent struggles. Just like Arsenal benefitted from our food poisoning fiasco. Otherwise that run of top four finishes we kept hearing about for years was over.

We desperately need Liverpool to us a favour now.

There is a SUPER SPURSY scenario now.

Chelsea win all their games and finish on 75 points.
Liverpool win their other game and finish on 75 points, third on goal difference. Spurs win one but lose the other game and finish on 74 points. Ropey League time.

Leicester do their old pals Chelsea another favour last match.

However, a draw today and a win for us secures fourth. Two wins gets us third.

  • Lilywhite without the ll May 6, 2018 at 9:08 am

After 3 Seasons Poch had done a great job, firstly removing the problem players and then getting the best out of what he had, some of which he improved and some he got lucky with. The 4th season things are starting to take its toll.
We kept getting told the squad is young and they need time and our philosophy is different to every other club on the planet (ok then) and we should be patient. We are told its a 5 year plan, which has now jumped to an 8 year plan (all sounds familiar, remember the compulsory purchase order, that could of been dealt with in months not years) and the goal posts keep moving. This team will no longer be young soon, problem is half of them won’t be with us much longer either. Will that add another 2 years to the project? ENIC will keep this money-go-round plodding along until the Stadium dept is paid off. As long as they don’t have to use their own money it takes as long as it takes. The football comes 2nd with ENIC, regardless of how people want to fluff it up, this is a unique situation where the consumers will keep coming and keep spending regardless and its being abused. They could invest their own money knowing full well they would get it back to speed the project along buy no. Nothing Levy does gives the fans a feel-good factor. Atletico Madrid spent 240m euros re building an old stadium to 67 thousand seats and then made the cheapest Season Tickets £260.00….looks great…….ENIC spent 1 BILLION Pounds, wtf….Nothing is organic with Levy, it’s all about the accounts. Winning mentality NEEDS to comes from the top. Levy sits on his chair watching the game like someone has strapped him down and forced him to be there. Watching Atletico Madrid beat Arsenal the other day you could see what it meant to everyone in the ground from fans to players to the owners and manager, just to get to the final. We get told it’s not going to change our lives if we win a cup…..fuck you in the fanny!!

    • Caveman May 6, 2018 at 9:22 am

It had to be Jake Livermore. The footballing gods are having a right good laugh – again.

I would point out that Jan Vertonghen was off injured when they scored. He’s been our stand out defender for months now.

        • Accy May 6, 2018 at 9:41 am

What is it about our Centre Backs pulling up injured on the byline?

First Tobes against Madrid, and Verts. Both made marauding runs towards the goal and pulled up injured.

  • cabspur May 6, 2018 at 8:49 am

If we squeeze 4th then fine but if we dont the shit will hit the fan somewhat ,certain key players are going already ,5th will rock the boat a whole lot more . From 3-2 months ago rocking shit in the champs league to this ,,depressing. Well at least its sunny in Edinburgh for once.

A second striker solution that would of made sense at the time rather than the spaniard: Long, Rodriguez, King, Wilson, Zaha

    • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 8:41 am

Why bother, save the monies and promote Reo Griffiths.

      • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 8:42 am

      • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 8:44 am

        • Lilywhite without the ll May 6, 2018 at 8:50 am

But why would they, Kane is played to death, there would be plenty of game time, you could play with 2 strikers or one may be in better form than the other…all big clubs have more than one striker, Bournemouth have 3, I’d rather Defo back..

      • Harry Hotspur May 6, 2018 at 9:47 am

I’d rather see you play for us.

      • Accy May 6, 2018 at 10:16 am

Since when did we as fans prioritise ‘saving money’ over bringing in quality?

  • Tappaspur May 6, 2018 at 8:32 am

Poch “Daniel you’re making me look a cunt. Gimme some money to spend, up the wages some or I’m gone” I dont think levy would like that.

    • Tappaspur May 6, 2018 at 8:35 am

Scotty p you’re in charge of the first team! 🙂 :-

    • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 8:35 am

Monies have been supplied but wasted on Aurier, Llorente and possibly Moura.

      • Tappaspur May 6, 2018 at 8:41 am

Dont know about wasted. Best he could get in the price range. Made in china players

        • Tappaspur May 6, 2018 at 8:42 am

You wont get much in harrods for a tenner!

  • Lilywhite without the ll May 6, 2018 at 8:22 am

Why bother playing Rose at all if he’s being shipped out because unlike Toby he’s playing shit. He may need a long run out to get his form back which is fine but again, why bother?
When it counts, from the top of the club the right football decisions are never made, theres always an agenda. Shoving low-rent onto the pitch, just like he used to with n’cloudo, with 5 mins to go and no game time for months is a piss take.
Poch has inherited good players, getting Toby and Wanyama was good business (relatively cheap buys) but everyone else has been bought to fit a payment plan first. Levy is so paranoid about avoiding having to increase player wages it effects the type of player he buys, get 1 great player but rather get 2 or average dross at the same cost and wages combined and pay our world class players more. There is no way on earth low-rent is a Poch player, no way.

    • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 8:26 am

Surely one immediate solution is playing the likes if KWP and Reo Griffiths to pep up the side?

Hopefully Liverpool will do us a favour today and we can stumble over the finishing line.
Not really the end to the season that any of us wanted , probably our last decent performance was against Chelsea, almost 6 weeks ago.

  • Camus May 6, 2018 at 8:06 am

A win yesterday would have basically seen us home and dry. And then if Liverpool won today, we’d have been cracking open the champers tonight. Top 4 confirmed.

Over the next few seasons being above any of the bigger teams with far bigger budgets will get harder and harder. Win for the bindippers today or we have a chance of totally ruining decent enough season. Im going on a stag do on the 18th and most of people are chelski scum and they are gobby cunts ,will be a shit trip if we come 5th……

Late to the show the longer the game went on and we failed to score there was a disappointing inevitability that we would lose which we did. This afternoon was conclusive evidence that despite 74% possession which means nothing compared to Citeh we are simply not incisive and ruthless enough.

    • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:13 am

What is the point of anything?

        • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:28 am

IMO Poch needs to shake up the side when if it means playing a couple of academy players in the remaining 2 games integrating the likes Reo Griffiths, dropping Alli plus other big name reputations so be it. Does he have the balls? thats another matter.

          • ronwol96061 May 6, 2018 at 12:36 am

He is stuck on picking the same players.
He needs to sow confidence in the weakest too..so all players can contribute.
He puts people in for 5 minutes.
Having balls is to get out if his comfort zone and confront the players and Levy. He has the leverage with both

            • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:38 am

Well if you mean did he deserve to be paid wages whilst out then yes. He was playing really well before his injury too. Took a bit of time adapting however he was a young lad, away from home. He puts in a shift, wears his heart on his sleeve and has the talent (I believe) to up his game further. Need more like him.

Are you a real person? Do you want Spurs to win? Spurs do not need more like Eric Lamela. “Young lad away from home”. He’s 26 years old ffs! Why on earth are so many people offering lame excuses for this turd? “Playing really well before his injury” Lamela has been consistently shit for 5 years and has had the odd half decent game where he has picked out a key pass. Nothing more than this can be said about him in a positive way because most of his contribution, during most of his performances for Spurs, has been minimal in terms of end product.

Tell the truth. Lamela runs around like a puppy, makes rash ‘tackles’ usually from behind and often gets booked for his shit ‘tackling’. This does not constitute the anecdotal suggestion that he was; “playing really well before his injury”. Lamela has been consistently poor in most of the games he has been involved in. Franco Baldini tucked us up good and proper with this player and if he could have been sold for half what we paid for him then a deal would already have been done. If this player is retained it will be the biggest clue as to how low spurs ambition really is under ENIC.

    • MiT May 6, 2018 at 12:14 am

I like Lamela. I think he is more valuable as a regular sub than as a starter, as when he comes on, he brings a certain energy and intensity that picks up his teammates.

Yes, his scoring stats are poor, and he tends to foul up his opportunities for glory… maddening, yes… but I still believe he adds a positive measure when employed with the right timing.

I thought Spurs had seen the last of him with the hip stuff. Financially, I’ll admit, he is not justifiable over the lost time.

Most stats would justify an opinion closer to yours. I just enjoy watching the kid come on and play. Plays with panache.

      • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:18 am

Despite his creditable work ethic Lamela features amongst a number of players I would offoad in the summer. He aint delivered. End of.

        • MiT May 6, 2018 at 12:23 am

I certainly cannot fault anyone for that stance.

        • aristotle May 6, 2018 at 11:56 am

Ryan Mason and Nabil Benteleb were both better players and had a better ‘work ethic’ than Erik Lamela. Both were jogged on by Poch and or Levy. The truth is nobody credible wants Erik Lamela because he is a very poor professional footballer. I am staggered at the excuses offered and explanations for the utter shitness of Lamela. It’s nothing new. Spurs have bought stacks of mediocre players. Njie, Nkoudou, Jansenn, Sissoko etc. The thing is; not many people attempt to apologise for these players shortcomings and general mediocrity.

I have even heard some people refer to this clown by his nickname; “coco”.

WTF is it with this player? He is bobbins…….

    • ronwol96061 May 6, 2018 at 12:28 am

I think Aristotle that thus year was probably his best year but its not saying much.
He presses well and he has got some touchesnbut you are right he is a seed that never developed into too much.
After we signed him he went on tour with Roma to Canada. He looked the same…not really putting his name on the game. We should have bought Pjanic instead. He was all over the game here

You don’t like him thats fine, that’s your opinion but you haven’t got your facts right. I said he had trouble at the start, he was 21 when he joined not 26 you joker. He was playing really well before the injury, you wouldn’t admit it anyway. You said he hasn’t had one good game and I picked out two really good games against City and Utd. You then asked if he was worth his wages for 5 years. Well he’s been injured for over a year and he’s done pretty well on his return. Do I want spurs to win, well I bet you enjoy it when we fail, something to moan about. Never mind eh, you real fan you.

As Aristotle says ‘we are what we repeatedly do’ – what does that make you? A Lamela moaning Minnie.

Poch didn’t realise the negative vibe that losing the semi final would produce. That and his reliance on Kane and to a lesser extent Son.

    This.

I asked after last week what in the world has happened to the squad. I think Gloster nailed it on the head.

The manager did not understand the negative ramifications and Lasting ramifications of losing the semi-final after the language the manager used to the week before.

That’s the point where I think the players and the fans really began to unravel the confidence in him.

Spurs played far better this week than they did against Watford. WBA stole that in the end with some determination.

I agree with 3 backs in this matchup, and was glad to see it. The fact that far too much play was forced down the middle is on the players. Should have been far more crosses put in with Trippier and Rose freed up.

On to Newcastle for me. This squad will either be amped up, or it won’t. They are begging for the offseason just to move away from the atmosphere that was created with that semi-final loss. That was a terrible error in judgement on Pochettino’s part.

My apologies with the errors in voice text.

His attitude was too casual during the fight.

Moura can beat a man but his end product so far has been negligible. As for Lamela; In 5 long years I am struggling to recall one 90 minute performance that you could point to and justify this players selection in Spurs match day squad. Lamela is being kept around the team so he can be placed in the shop window with his cameo performances. If we miss out on Champions League because of this it be because Levy is penny wise and pound foolish.

Moura hasnt had a fair chance at creating part of a flow.
    Poch never gave him that.
Call him shit. Others do here but for me he hasnt had time to develop in the first team and he hasnt been worse than some
Poch to me us far from the best himself but manages every game.
    How good is he?
Ok before the name Levy gets thrown around
Every season at the death Poch cant produce even against shit teams

we won 12 games out of last 13 last season.

    • Gloster1861 May 5, 2018 at 10:38 pm

Poch is well above average. Considering the limitations placed on him in general, and this season the inconvenience of being at Wembley, surely this is unquestionable?

      He has weaknesses. Everyone does.

      • Gloster1861 May 5, 2018 at 10:40 pm

His main weakness being he appears to concede to the chairman when he ought to have his own voice.

        • East Stand May 5, 2018 at 10:51 pm

All true but overall Poch is the one making the 7th highest spend look like its not a problem.

Put another guy in and it will be, in fact you couldn’t even attract anyone top notch with that spend anyway.

Poch was a happy accident, Levy took s punt and it’s worked. No Poch and no top4, simple as that.

Of course he isn’t perfect but the job description of a low spend, development of players and delivering Champions League, he’s smashed it out the fucking park…

    • ronwol96061 May 6, 2018 at 12:33 am

Generally we have crapped out near the end of seaons. Last season ok..but we have fallen out cups and not done the jobs needed to get close to a cup.
Pochs management of the team leaves a lot to be desired. Playing top players in lessers games and not giving confidence to bench players rarely playing them

      • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:35 am

For me Poch simply does not inspire enough passion on the touchline.

        • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:37 am

Martin Keown remarked on MOTD – Where were our leaders?, where were they?

          • ronwol96061 May 6, 2018 at 12:39 am

Poch zIS supposed to be the leader
Along with Dembele Verts and Kane

            • David Dillenberg May 6, 2018 at 12:55 am

and yet unable to influence proceedings on the pitch Lloris is oddly captain!

  • Gloster1861 May 5, 2018 at 10:30 pm

Top four is still in our hands. Hopefully Newcastle won’t put ten behind the ball. Leicester will play 8-1-1 though.

    • East Stand May 5, 2018 at 10:54 pm

Today was a pathetic result but WBA have stared playing, they did Utd too.

Poch should have done better and so should the players. Players that cost a fraction of Utd’s by he way…

    100%
Poch thinks we dont pkay the system well enough
I think his system is limited

    Whose system is good?
Guaediola: Who can buy the right players no matter how much they cost.
Klopp: He was shit than us last 2.5 season. He is doing good this season only and guess what he signed salah: who was scoring freeliy in Serie A and Spent 70 odd mil on a defender.

    • Blackfish May 5, 2018 at 10:27 pm

Pool signed Mane while we were danging on his wage demands and we got Sissoko. For their salah we got Moura who never played this season for PSG.

      • Tappaspur May 5, 2018 at 10:30 pm

We’ll tuck up Newcastle on Wednesday. You’ll feel better
