Welcome to Dead Rubber Central. Please do not throw losing betting slips or yourself in front of the next train. Which has gone.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the Kick Off algorithm has either suffered a total meltdown or is in fact operated by Dillernberg. Hang on, those options aren’t mutually exclusive.

So today’s weather forecast says that it could be humid and balmy or there might be 18 inches of snow.

Our XI tonight:

Vorm (C), Aurier, Sanchez, Foyth, Rose, Winks, Sissoko, Dele, Nkoudou, Son, Llorente.

Slightly surprised by Poch not picking Edwards given how well he played earlier today.

The Spurs players currently registered to participate in the Champions League are:  Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Paulo Gazzaniga Defenders: Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies.  Midfielders: Victor Wanyama, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen. Forwards: Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente.

Breaking News….Astronomers find a colossal Black Hole.

  • Mad Carew December 7, 2017 at 10:52 am

Aurier, Rose, Sissoko and Alli were all close to useless last night, none rate more than a 4, Son was MOTM on 7.5.

He is a liability, and I was worried about his character when we signed him. We have given him a chance, but every time he plays I am thinking what will it cost us, a red, a foul for no reason, a dodgy pass that actually sets the opposition up.

And he’s black and he hates poofs.

Mainly he’s just shit though, like Gkd…that pesky white kid

    • Spurs est_1882 December 7, 2017 at 10:43 am

I have never mentioned his colour or his preference to homosexuals – my issue is the fact he lunges in like a nutter and his passing is up there with Sissoko’s. I suppose I am only allowed to criticize those on your list of approved shit players (Alli, Nkoudo…)

  • Mad Carew December 7, 2017 at 10:34 am

One has to worry about the lack of discipline in the Spurs ranks, Aurier was very lucky to remain on the field after his callous tackle but rather than focus his petulant side took over, kicking the corner flag out of the ground while the linesman was a couple of yards away was idiotic, can we afford the Yellow and Red Cards he will amass in a season ? No thanks, Trippier is definitely the better option.

    • Spurs est_1882 December 7, 2017 at 10:14 am

Nah – its all set to context of a 1 second clip. They could have one of those relationships. My mates some I laugh and joke with at the end of the game, the others its stern face respect. Once we hit the pub afterwards it all changes. Lets face it, Rose does not have the balls to piss off Dembele.

    • Freund or Foe December 7, 2017 at 10:20 am

Really? What a load of nonsense. I’m all for Rose bashing, but there’s absolutely nothing in that.

    • 61SpursNut🌰 December 7, 2017 at 10:29 am

The article states “pretty much every move the left back makes is scrutinised to the hilt” and then scrutinises nothing of relevance.

      • McG ⚽⚽ December 7, 2017 at 10:39 am

Fair enough, but I watched it last night, we aren’t just one second, his demeanure completely changed, & didn’t change back. It was the face of someone doing the off, didn’t some across genuine at all. I may be wrong, but that was my read last night, not from seeing this 1 second clip today.

        • SpurAndy 🍒π December 7, 2017 at 10:44 am

I thought there might have been a problem when he came off with the cut and then suddenly he disappeared down the tunnel. The commentator said there’d been words with Poch but I saw nothing to suggest it. Noticeably that Rose came back to the bench after being stitched up and then came onto the pitch afterwards to do the handshakes etc. Either he did that cause he wanted to paper over any issues or there was no issue. I’ll probably go with the later but f*ck 👃.

    • SpurAndy 🍒π December 7, 2017 at 10:38 am

Jeez, must be a slowwwwww news day.

  • Accy December 7, 2017 at 9:40 am

Special mention to Winks for his 40 yard pass to Aurier on the wing – who in turn provided the assist for Llorente.

It was an awesome pass by winksy.

    • Camus December 7, 2017 at 9:41 am

“Can they hold onto Harry Winks…?”

    • East Stand December 7, 2017 at 9:45 am

He seems to like the European games, it suits his game better. He’s more like a Spanish number 4 or 6, a sort of deep lying playmaker.

  • Spurs est_1882 December 7, 2017 at 9:34 am

From that display, if I were Poch there would be a few “first teamers” dropped for Stoke. All I would add though is that last night proved one thing – The Europa league is simply not taken seriously in any league (unless you are in the QTRs or further, then only you give a shit – like the league cup)! Apoel did not want to enter it, if they cant beat a 2nd string Spurs side they didn’t deserve to be in the champions league, so that only leads me to think they didn’t want to play in the Europa, and not one part of their play made me think otherwise. Yes, I have found a negative on a positive night.

    • Accy December 7, 2017 at 9:38 am

APOEL aren’t the best outfit and their results bare that out. Stoke would have probably put 3 past them aswell…

      • Spurs est_1882 December 7, 2017 at 9:58 am

Yet didn’t they draw with Dortmund twice? then the

    • East Stand December 7, 2017 at 9:38 am

It was the easiest C.League game we’ll have for a long time, just a good run out for the second string.

Hope to Lorente more involved in the league games now, possibly start him ahead of Kane for a while so he can integrate. He had perfectly respectable goal tally in the league last season with Swansea and should be used more and rotated with Kane.

Kane might be better for it too.

    • Accy December 7, 2017 at 9:36 am

I think it worked well with Llorente and Son – particularly Llorente setting Son up for his goal – though I would say Fernando wasn’t particularly troubled by their defenders – It was a good touch, and a great first time finish from Son.

      • East Stand December 7, 2017 at 9:42 am

We have several players that like to play as the ‘10’ behind the center forward, Eriksen, Son, Alli, Lamela even Kane or Dembele.

Lorente needs to start games now, Kane and Alli off the bench for a few games.

  • East Stand December 6, 2017 at 11:45 pm

Alli was playing in a midfield two with Winks tonight which meant he played a slightly different role.

He didn’t have as much freedom to roam but perhaps this was just Poch trying him deeper?

    • David Dillenberg December 6, 2017 at 11:55 pm

The one major positive from this eves comfortable win against poor opposition was the link up play between Son and Lllorente which bodes well for domestic fixtures.

      • David Dillenberg December 7, 2017 at 12:01 am

I would be tempted to play Foyth against Stoke on Saturday.

        • East Stand December 7, 2017 at 12:45 am

Could be risky, European games are less direct and physical and are better suited to Fouth at this stage.

He’s only 19 and looks a little lightweight and not great in the air yet either. Stoke might be the wrong game to start him in.

Jan and Dier methinks with Dembele and Winks in midfield.

          • David Dillenberg December 7, 2017 at 1:15 am

As previously intimated Spurs need to blunt Stoke’s workhorse Joe Allen and tricky Shaquir.

  • DAVID December 6, 2017 at 9:31 pm

Hope we avoid Bayern in the next round, they are the only team I would be worried about beating.

    • danspurs December 6, 2017 at 9:33 pm

I’d like to knock out Barca after all those years of arsenal failing to. Then Bayern. Then I’d like us to do Chelsea. I’m easy after that, so long as we win the cup.

These are the opinions of fans who watch lower league football and therefore haven’t had any relevance since 1992.

      • Lilywhite without the ll December 6, 2017 at 9:32 pm

I don’t think he will make it with us. From what I hear he does well to a point but makes key mistakes, PL will be too much for him unless he can turn it around..

        • danspurs December 6, 2017 at 9:43 pm

Maybe. Maybe not. The fact Poch sent him out on loan after having him with the first team group for a while doesn’t look very promising though. But maybe regular football will help sort the mistakes out.

  • gloster1861 December 6, 2017 at 9:25 pm

Deflection. Expect Sissy to get one now.
