Home » We’re Arsenal 2.0

It’s rare that I start my day reading something that required no translation, something that was just a straightforward sentiment based upon what we all witnessed.

From GreavesForever on the last blog…

‘After 12 games with exception of Man City we have been average or just above. I am getting tired of the same record played by Poch , “its a project and we are on a learning curve.”

Lamela badly needs a rest and last night after a yellow he should have been off or realistically not started. Again the subs were strange and two for sure were not match fit adding nothing to the side. This obvious downgrading of Wimmer ( if this was due to the Newcastle debacle ) is frankly stupid when there are a dearth of decent centre halves in Europe.

This guy will be of leaving us short. This side may be one of the best collection of players since the double season but without some consistency major or even minor, silverware look doubtful at present.’

I agree with HH without a decent investment in marquee players we shall not improve much on what we have..

After the Bayer game and in only a few paragraphs what we are looking at is something I warned you all of some while ago.

We’re becoming Arsenal 2.0.

The very wording will send some of you into a spin. But then you need only give a waiter carrying too many plates the gentlest of nudges to cause complete carnage in the restaurant.

Everything positive being said about Pochettino is true.

Nice bloke, good coach, he’s got a style, a ‘philosophy’, a ‘project’ and he has made the squad more stable and more balanced than it has been in a good long while.

The table doesn’t lie, and whilst there were factors influencing our 3rd place finish last season, we are still in the top four right now.

And my point was???

We’re no closing to winning anything than we were before he got here.

The team that beat Manchester City were Champions League quality.

The team that played a side placed 10th in the Bundesliga last night was not to be confused with a Champions League side.

What we got instead were echoes of our Europa League exploits, which is to say we look primed to get ripped up by the first good side that run into.

Last night wasn’t enjoyable to watch and whilst we didn’t play badly, it was a confusing and ultimately an unsatisfying display.

Believe it or don’t, I watch a fair bit of football.

Last night I felt like an Arsenal fan, walking away from the game clutching the fact – that we’re playing the Champions League – as if it were a comfort blanket.
