The Turks have taken him in.

“Our club has agreed a loan deal in principle for Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur and Holland national team striker Vincent Janssen,” read a Fenerbahce statement.

“The 23-year-old striker will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12.30pm today and negotiations will continue in Istanbul.”

As per Gladys’ recent pronouncements on the boy, Vincent Janssen wasn’t even making the grade in training. You sign for Tottenham Hotspur to train. That’s how the gaffer has it and if you don’t get your head around that then your stay with Mauricio will be a brief one.

Janssen’s record in Holland had been exemplary, yet he couldn’t convert to the rigours of a pressing Premier League outfit. His loss. You could argue that we had the same sob story with Bobby Soldado, but in fairness to the man, he looked doomed no matter how much effort he put in.

And that’s a point to reiterate at this juncture. Soldado was hugely well thought of inside the club during his less than blessed spell.

Janssen hasn’t rubbed anyone top the wrong way, he’s just not put the effort in. Fernando Llorente by contrast is locked, cocked and ready to rock. He might be 32 in his stocking feet, but he knows how to score.

At the end of the day it’s as Poch says, ‘It’s not easy to sign Llorente’s calibre of player’ and regrettably Vinny simply wasn’t of that calibre.

Why anyone complains about Llorentes age ? The same who want a winner. He’s a World Cup and euro championship winner with Spain. Has 3 Serie A titles with Juve (back to back). A copa Italia and a Europa League. Oh and he bangs in 15 PL goals for Swans. He’s a winner and plays with passion. Couldn’t think of anyone more suitable striker to partner Harry. Swiped him from Chelsea for good measure. Perfecto.

Has Sissoko gone to Turkey yet???

Let us hope that we are lucky with injuries up top, Fernando is quality by the way 👍

Poch gives no quarter. He wont be missed.

It’s something that Levy absolutely admires in Poch. If Poch goes (he will go) Levy will be a fucking husk (for a while) he likes this one. Lots.

All the best Vinny, a shame it hasn’t worked out. He always had the look of somebody that forgot to go to the bathroom when he was about to be brought on. Maybe RVP will show him the way?

Have to agree. Its the way it goes sometimes. He just couldn’t cope with the PL never mind Poch.

Eric L also looked lost for a while in his early days, but you could see he was learning all the while and before his injuries was having an impact on games. Vincent just did the same thing everytime and it just didn’t look like progress.

Loaning out Carter-Vickers and Onomah is giving young players, with potential, an opportunity to play and continue to develop. Loaning out Vinnie is getting him out of Poch’s hair. I doubt that he will return.

You never know Horn, he might just surprise us.

      • Horndog September 8, 2017 at 12:37 pm

I would be for that. I guess we’ll know next summer, once his loan is over.

    • MysteriousStranger September 8, 2017 at 12:50 pm

Both Carter-Vickers and Onomah are in the last chance saloon. Poch virtually said as much himself. Just saying. They weren’t showing enough to be kept at Spurs.

He better lay off the kebabs over there then.. I just would like to know why Janssen was bought in the first place. I never saw any real aspect to his game that I thought showed a quality that we needed or which could be developed. Had he come back to summer training looking lean and fit then that would have given some encouragement but to turn up looking overweight and out of condition said everything to Pooch I suspect.

“Can you hear the drums Fernando?”

  • Spiderneil September 8, 2017 at 12:07 pm

    Also also, 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

    • Harry Hotspur September 8, 2017 at 12:09 pm

THAT’S what we’re looking for spread betting comments!

  • Spiderneil September 8, 2017 at 12:07 pm

Aldo, hopefully the deal to take Janssen includes a clause that means they also have to take Sissoko.

  • Spiderneil September 8, 2017 at 12:06 pm

Hopefully that means llorente won’t be a bit part player and will actually get some decent game time.

    • Harry Hotspur September 8, 2017 at 12:10 pm

He should do – he’s on the same deal as Kane 🤓
