Dele Alli was pance, but Davinson Sanchez looked the business.

Pochettino was brimming with praise for the new boy. “He was very good. The performance was solid. The good thing is that he was very calm and relaxed on the pitch.

“He was aggressive and played the ball. I’m very happy because he’s young and in the Premier League when you start to play and come from the Netherlands it’s always a big impact. But for him it was very good.”

It was an uncompromising start from the 21 year old who had a significant price tag hanging over his head. One time Spurs defender Graham Roberts hailed Sanchez as ‘incredible today’.

The Colombian was fleet of foot, dominating and not afraid to get stuck in. Which is coded language for getting away with two fouls in the in the first 6 minutes of play.

A promising start that suggested that it won’t be long until he looks like he’s been playing alongside Β Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen all his career.

I’m saying if someone just saw Spurs on MOTD they think Dele was a hot potato. But
If you are at the match you could get the hump with his on/off performance.

    • Harry Hotspur September 10, 2017 at 5:41 pm

People are welcome to say what they want – I’m just bored being told he was fab yesterday by people who can’t string a coherent sentence together about yesterday’s game and yesterday’s game alone.

That was the game I was commenting on and that game alone. Not other games. Just the one yesterday.

Anyway, if anyone needs me I’ll be giving Ross Barkley a medical until further notice.

F*ck last season – yesterday Dele Alli was piss poor.

Joey Barton vs Opta – I could weep.

  • SpurAndy πŸ’Ο€ September 10, 2017 at 4:24 pm

Really can’t get to excited about the Delli issue. If he keeps knocking in the goals like last season and we’re winning what’s the problem. So what if he acts a bit stupid at times and his stats are disappointing. He’s one of the few players in the PL that has genuine moments of brilliance which is what the games all about. Don’t really care if he thinks he’s a gangsta, I’ll just judge him at the end of each season as to whether he’s an asset or liability to THFC. Last year he was a definite asset, this year let’s see. Of course he’s not perfect yet time and again a player with genuine talent that would be sought after by other top European teams is deemed not good enough for us by some and needs to be sold. Don’t geddit.

    • ronwol196061πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ September 10, 2017 at 4:29 pm

  • PhilBealOG September 10, 2017 at 3:21 pm

I thought that we needed a bit more height at the back last season to handle crosses and it looks like Sanchez gives us that. I really like having him in a back 3 between Toby and Jan. Sissoko still flatters to deceive. I counted just one completed pass in the second half. Dembele continues to look like a bad fit for Pochs tactics. When he is out there the creativity just dies. He’s a great player with the ball at his feet but this team needs incisive forward passing and he does not give them that. That’s where Ross B could be a big boost.

    Mattspurs

Don’t know why you’re bashing a relatively normal performance from Dele – it’s what he always does, last season he chipped in with 20 goals though. I think whilst he can be woeful and risky in possession it’s his defensive work rate that makes it work – if he loses it he tracks back.

I have to say, I’m getting increasingly bored with virgins trying to defend another second rate performance.

Don’t like it, exercise some self control and click elsewhere.
