Erik Lamela is on his way back says Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss is hopeful Lamela can step up from gym and gentle ball work and be back in full training next month.

“We are happy with Erik’s rehab. We expect in early October he will join the team and start the possibility to train with the team. I think we are happy. We try to translate to our fans that Erik is in a very good mood. He is happy, he is doing all the things to try to be fit as soon as possible.”

The 25-year-old has been absent from any football activity for Tottenham for the last 11 months.

The Argentine underwent surgery in the late spring and failed to make THFC’s list of players participating in the forthcoming Champions League campaign. However a second list containing alterations can be submitted before February 1st, 2018.

Patience from fans has waned as this FootballFanCast article highlights.

Bring in Barkley, Lamela returns & it’ll be like we’ve made two new signings in the jan window intead of one. Could be just the boost we need…

Be good to get him back – thoroughbreds all rivalling for places – then its not so much who to pick, but about which strategy for which game – and in Poch, we trust
